Finally, I must say that the comments I've read and the invoking of the future of our athletics being a huge concern is disappointing. Our mission is to educate the minds of our young men and women. Chancellor Martin is on record with how he feels about our athletics. I'm a former Aggie athlete and root hard for all of our teams. But, I'm more interested in our academics and our brand. We will be ok and I trust our leadership to get it right. You are disappointed that folks on a football message board would actually wonder about the future of our athletic department? Yes I am. It's when you make proclamations like we are athletically screwed and that be your 1st post since the announcement. Make no mistake, I understand what this site is. However, I'm making the assumption that we are all academics who happen to enjoy sport and love our alma mater. I hope you share that thinking. I also believe you are a proud Aggie and I expected your 1st reaction to be better than that. It's reasonable to have concerns. But when those that we've tasked to run athletics prove that we aren't screwed; just admit that you were wrong. And I'm sure you will be happy to do so. Aggies have a pride that most just don't understand, and you have it too.

Btw: If you expect everyone to only post things that make you happy you are going to continue to be disappointed. My assumption is that people here are intellectually mature enough to discuss important topics from a myriad of angles.

Basically you are suggesting that Chancellor Martins of the world come a dime a dozen. I would argue that he is a once-in-a-generation type leader and that we cannot expect his vision for our athletic department to be fully shared by his replacement. When Martin left WSSU there was no one else to continue his D1 push and that personal passion project fell by the wayside. It has been surmised by a number of people in the know that Martin's personal goal for our athletic department was to eventually have a FBS football program. With him retiring, I am not confident the next chancellor will have that same personal goal and would be willing to make the required investment. The lack of investment in athletics immediately after Martin left WSSU resulted in the WSSU athletic department that you see today. That is the precedent I am using that causes my concern. I know you're using the WSSU issue for your position. That, in no way, is concrete evidence that the same thing will happen in AggieLand. You keep making definitives that you have no concrete idea about (we're screwed, we cannot expect). Also, related to vision, the replacement might have one that's more than fully shared AND BETTER. See how I used "might"...because NONE of us KNOW. No issue with you not having confidence (some or many share your position), but to make statements indicating you know something are bridges too far. I also "wonder" about the vision of our next Chancellor, but I have no idea what it will be because I don't know who it will be, what he/she will say is their vision, whether it will actually be done, etc. But no worries, we'll form a human rope to catch you since you've jumped off the ledge. #AggiesDo P.S. Out of Dr. Martin's own mouth, in one of the Zoom mtgs, he said we want to participate at the highest levels of wherever we're participating. I, and others took that to be FCS in football. I believe I remember he put more context around it but I can't remember what he said exactly.

Perhaps you are correct Thrilla. I shouldn't assume that we are comprised of academics. And let's not bring in posts from other forums when we are debating within this platform. Keep the narrative and the goal posts where they are. I knew I was right. You do share my thoughts regarding how prolific Chancellor Martin is and was for our institution.
Again, when we rise and we will just admit that we are not athletically screwed because Martin has chosen to pass the baton.

Looks like we are already a month behind on the War Memorial renovation project. Must be that pesky Historic Committee again. Also, we're gonna have to wait until 2027 to replace the prison fence around Trust Stadium.

Somebody please explain this slide to me: 2021 looks like a ride at Carowinds. Blue bars align with data on the left side of the chart…2022 AAF brought in $2.4M. The gold line aligns with data on the right…shows how much money the school raised for academics during those years.

Somebody please explain this slide to me: 2021 looks like a ride at Carowinds. Mackenzie Scott was a Godsend. However, if you compare 2022 to 2020, there's a more natural increase in place.
