The People's Champ is a nickname; not an official designation. Just like Baby Hook and the Minnesota Kid.
You might need to catch up on a few more episodes to understand the reference.

I seen all the episodes and like I said you and the boys do a great job and I appreciate all you do. But just admit he is your favorite. Just like I had to admit that my younger Granddaughter is my favorite. So I not going to make this a grass topic. Let's just hope whoever that Coach Brown select get the job done. Peace ✌️ and AGREE PRIDE

I think you are reading too much into it. There’s a rapper from Houston named Paul Wall who was known as the people’s champ. I promise you it it just a nickname. And my sympathy goes out to all your other grandkids. That is unfortunate.

I say it’s Brick as well. I saw him at AAF Picnic today he is very personable. Not that his personality will get him the starting job but based on his skill set

whoever the starting qb is, if i were coach brown, i wouldn't "announce the starter" until just before the uab game kick-off. heck, no need to "tip your hand" before you have to...

We have a new head coach, a new offensive coordinator and none of the QBs on the roster have extensive college film.
You are not giving UAB any advantage by naming a starting QB before Thursday.

You are not giving UAB any advantage by naming a starting QB before Thursday. i'd still keep them "guessing" until game time. that way they'll have to prepare for more than one qb cuz they won't know who's gonna start. they can easily bring up high school video on our qb's who haven't played college yet and hooker/yeager both played last season, so there's college film available on those two. i mean, use every "advantage" that you can. make uab do more "homework" than they'd normally do if they knew for sure who our starter is gonna be. you can always study earlier film on qb's who haven't played college yet and you learn from that film what their "tendencies" have been in the past. you can also determine their "strengths and weaknesses" by watching game film on them rather than game "highlights"..

I know most "old ball coaches" prescribe to theory of not naming starters to give a competitive advantage to an opponent.
I've never been a coach but find that to be just a tad bit overrated. No matter who you trot out there as (enter position)1, if I'm better/execute better than you we'll be fine.
Can anyone specifically explain what advantage your opponent actually gains by knowing your starter, if in facts coaches always fall back to it comes down to execution. I would like to know why they feel that way.

I would like to know why they feel that way. In this situation it doesn't matter who is starting because you don't have tape on any of them .And the little tape that is out there is not enough to examine and pick up situational tendencies ( high school tape doesn't count) at this level because tendencies change at different levels. Now at this level and you have tape it is common to breakdown tendencies of certain players especially quarterbacks to find their weaknesses, if you have a returning starter with experience at this level. Now if you don't have a experienced returning starter it really doesn't matter. Truthfully speaking it really doesn't matter if he's a starter or not it's just the coaches preference . Some people make more out of this than it really is because it is all about offensive excuse at the end of the day .

Your missing the point . You can not get information about QB'S that you don’t have (outside of high school) and those issues and tendencies change this level because of the speed of the game and level of talent at this level. We don't have one QB with significant playing experience or backup experience at this level, no tape to break down, only what is in their bio so there is nothing to breakdown. Now guys like Carter or even Fowler would have had tape giving other coaches something to analyze and critique. In this case there is nothing. It is always the coaches preference to name his starters in our case with the in Camp competition I can see holding off on naming the starter. But it really doesn't matter one way or the other the competition is going to prepare for whoever our quarterback is.

So your use of the word "nothing" goes too far. As a result, some things can be gleaned from the film. For VA Finest's question, if one QB has shown to be a better runner (think K. Quick) vs. more of a passer (think J. Fowler) there can be strategies devised to negate the strengths and weaknesses of the QBs.
