Lord , hearing y’all talk it seems like we have loss the game already and the next 2 after this one . TRUST THE PROCESS!! Agreed...if you listened to the press conference today...Coach Brown said that stopping the run was an absolute priority for this game. But he also said that we would be playing a defensive scheme that was dramatically different from what these players are used to. William and Mary has 7 DL players over 280 lbs on their roster...we only have 2...so you've gotta think that this scheme is gonna be to emphasize our quickness and athleticism. Much like Coach Broadway's first teams did. So let's see what we put on the field, and make observations after the game.

Sooooooo, is no one else concerned our starting NG and DT are under 255lbs? Just wondering. Deeply concerning. Not only because of lack of size, but from the standpoint of who will keep the OL from getting the our 2nd level (LBs). If we don't have any anchors in the trenches our LBs are gonna get washed up. They've got Daniel listed at 265 on the ncataggies.com roster. And the backup NG (Allen) is 285. Hope he's out of the boot I saw him in a few weeks ago. All that said, we're still light, especially against an FBS team. We should be okay against nccu and some/most of the other FCS teams.

We'll see how well our coaches are able to get it done in terms of putting them in position to be successful. I expect we'll see quite a bit of rotation.

Lord , hearing y’all talk it seems like we have loss the game already and the next 2 after this one . TRUST THE PROCESS!! i don't see how anybody can have "intelligent" expectations of our team this season. sure, a lot of folk talk with their "hearts". i get that, we all want the best for the team. but the honest truth is that none of us know what to expect from this year's team. totally new coaching staff that does not do things the same way as our previous staff. we have a lot of "new" players and we've lost thru the portal some of our "very best" players. anybody (other than coach brown and his staff) who says that they "know" (not "guess") how good we're gonna be this season is "lying". so this notion about fans knowing how many wins or losses we'll have this season is "crazy". nobody really "knows"! a lot of folk know what they'd like to see, but they don't know what we're gonna see. maybe this time next year, we may be able to "intelligently" have a good idea what to expect from our team. but at this point in this season? nobody knows "shiggidy"! and anybody (other than the coaches) who says they do, is "lying" to you...

He said it always starts up front.

All respect Oleschool :-)

We have a new head coach, a new offensive coordinator and none of the QBs on the roster have extensive college film. You are not giving UAB any advantage by naming a starting QB before Thursday. i'd still keep them "guessing" until game time. that way they'll have to prepare for more than one qb cuz they won't know who's gonna start. they can easily bring up high school video on our qb's who haven't played college yet and hooker/yeager both played last season, so there's college film available on those two. i mean, use every "advantage" that you can. make uab do more "homework" than they'd normally do if they knew for sure who our starter is gonna be. you can always study earlier film on qb's who haven't played college yet and you learn from that film what their "tendencies" have been in the past. you can also determine their "strengths and weaknesses" by watching game film on them rather than game "highlights".. After we line up for our first offensive play, UAB will know who our starting QB is! And no hide and go seek QB shuffle is going to make that much difference. I say let Brick know he's our starting QB and let him and the rest of the team get mentally prepared for it.

I still trying to understand what Coach meant by elite speed at QB.
Football gurus, what is elite speed, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, …what?

At best I see us similar to Howard 2017 team with Calin Newton as qb. A high scoring offense that could put up points against any opponent. Because the defense was rather pourus they had to outscore opponents. I don't think our defense will be very good but our offensive line is our strength. We just need to take advantage of that. Play calling needs to be on point!
