Yeah, they did. Norfolk is really good this year.I do not know if I like our instrumentation this year.I also think we are young. CS and GD get a lot of attention BUT our tuba section is cranking! Kudos to them!

Think he's saying that our feeder programs suck.

Band geeks are a different breed.
Everybody who I talked to at the stadium thought the BGMM did great yesterday. The home crowd went wild after their performance.
You guys get hyper-sensitive whenever somebody talks about the band not being at a game, but then turn around and bash your own band when they actually show up.

Think it all boils down to the competitive aspect of band. We did good; however, Norfolk State sounded better. The Football team won, but we are talking about penalties...Is that considered bashing?

Think he's saying that our feeder programs suck. That’s exactly what I’m saying. I saw Hopewell HS in person a few weeks ago. Easily could have passed for a NSU pep band. Those kids have been bred for the Legion since middle school. A full scholarship wouldn’t get them to blink in our direction. Dudley used to be the same way for us. This HS senior day is a great idea but by itself is WAY too late. The time to start recruiting is a few well selected appearances in front of 5th and 8th graders before they choose electives for the next year, and by sharing teaching techniques and custom arrangements with a few specific middle and high school directors.

It’s no different than the football geeks that are mad after we beat Norfolk 49 to 24.

Band geeks are a different breed. Would you have considered it OK if the football team did chicken, and lost because of superior QB play by the other team in the 4th Qtr? That’s what you saw yesterday with the band. (Football analogy in parentheses) In the 5th Qtr Norfolk showed they had: 1. Better song selection(play calling) 2. Better instrumentation (recruiting) 3. Better arrangements (play design) 4. Better overall sound (coaching) We are a very good band, but we are not ready to battle anyone right now, and I’m not sure we want to. The BGMM did not prepare to battle, maybe they are saving it for today in Charlotte,

Yall need to learn how to take yes for an answer.
If the crowd says the BGMM did great and that they were thoroughly entertained by this performance, I dont understand why yall insist on saying NSU was so much better.
This is why Chancellor Martin pays yall no mind. Because a lot of band people have a warped sense of reality.
