Me thinks you may be putting a round peg into a square circle. PWIs don't care AT ALL about a "battle of the bands." I am sure both their bands and their fans will be geeked to see the Blue and Gold Marching Machine come and entertain them...but they ain't really interested in competing against us in that category. That's not a part of their culture. So it seems It’s not a part of NCCU or Howard culture either

Famu, BCU, A&T, NSU and SCSU(previously) carried the marching band torch, Morgan is also doing OK.
Nccu and Wssu gave us a good run during my college years(they grew and we shrunk, check out any video from 06). I can't say the "northern hbcu" fans don't care about a good band, they've just adjusted to not having one after a decade or longer.
No school north of NSU and Hampton gets invited to the large battle of the bands. When was the last big hbcu Botbs held in VA or further up North? That culture has never been attempted to be cultivated again lol.
What's the immediate ROI funding a large band up north? It has to be immediate in this current financial climate..
NCCU wounds are self inflicted. They have a Famu/BCU style which only works with large numbers that they won't fund.

So it seems It’s not a part of NCCU or Howard culture either LOL!! Considering how bad their bands typically are...you're right. But their fans are very much steeped in HBCU fan culture which (for better or worse) focuses heavily on what occurs at halftime more so than what occurs before and after. A lot of them get up and leave after halftime too. That ain't happening with our newly found PWI brethren in the BS. So the idea of a "band battle" is completely foreign to their fanbases.

They are teachable. Furman did a pretty decent block band dance routine. For real.

Judges this year must not have attended the battle of the bands in Houston this year. Crazy thing is...I think that's where majority of the scoring comes from. Looking at the breakdown I see they gave Golden Delight a 12 with 1 being the best...

Their current band director since 2014, a Spartan Legion alum, is trying to do the best with what he’s got. I’m just surprised that their program is not growing. NCCUs previous band director was a FAMU graduate and he is now at Fayetteville State.

Yeah, Centrals band definitely gives Northern vibes...they fit in well with this new northern oriented MEAC
