No spring football season for A&T after MEAC cancels season Joe Sirera
GREENSBORO — No football for N.C. A&T. The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference has canceled its spring football season, and A&T in turn says it will not field a team in what would have been the program's last as a league member before joining the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. "The juice is not worth the squeeze," A&T athletics director Earl Hilton said. The program will hold a team meeting at 4 p.m. The season was supposed to begin Feb. 20 and end with a championship game April 17 and an automatic berth to the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. Six of the MEAC’s nine football-playing programs opted out of the spring 2021 season. According to an MEAC release, conference policy states that if half or more of the programs cannot participate in any championship, the championship for that sport will be suspended. So, the football program will be meeting at 4pm today. Players will be weighing their options and posting like hail on social media. Coaches will be counting the number of scholarships available for fall 2021.
Refresh my memory. Although we practiced in the fall and winter, can we still have normal spring practices & fan-less Spring Game or not?
We have now officially played our last MEAC football game! Our next scheduled football game is on Sat., Sept. 4 vs. Furman in Greenville, SC. Labor Day weekend in the Upstate.

The Aggie Nation should ready to Takeover darn near Every Stadium in the BS!
I wanted to blame Central for the Last MEAC season being a bust, but it was really 45, imo, for not protecting the country. Its a shame that we could not have a farewell tour, tailgating and dapping-up Brothers and Sisters.
I remember The Battle of the Border' vs SCSU in Charlotte, I think that we lost. But I met some SCSU Brothers in the Club ( I had on my gear). And I couldn't spend a dollar...buying drinks and rocking the dance floor. It was crazy! ( it was like we knew one another's struggle in representing HBCU's vs the PWI's in someone else's town).
Lastly, imo we should no longer beat up The MEAC (in public). It gets close to a line that dishonors our people's effort. They/We fought for Respect, trying to give our youth a chance to make it Big "With Us", as opposed to/with a PWI. I remember our good teams hoping for an invite to the NIT ( after a great season) and getting the shaft. And I remember our BB team giving Top Ranked Syracuse a good run before losing in the Dance. The MEAC was the platform. What a way to go out...

My old man was one of them, but he was one of many. I've watched the MEAC get built from Day One in the late '60s. I'm just hoping that they can pick up from here, and rebuild and rebrand.

Something tells me that we may have jumped too soon with the Dion Sanders thing Jackson State its impact upon the SWAC. I hope we can meet up and beat them in a classic in Atlanta before a sell out like the Gillette Friday Fights use to be.

BTW: I would like to hear a final tally of the number of people inside the A&T football program who tested positive for COVID.
Players, coaches and support staff. How many total cases since this spring experiment began?
We asked these brave individuals to take some serious calculated risks with their health for something that ultimately wasn't even worth the squeeze.

I look forward to that game. No reason for us to play JSU unless a 250k check is involved
