wow, this is really funny to me. first we haul azz from the meac, abandon our fellow hbcu's, and join a pwc conference. then "to keep our fans happy", we friggin' exploit our fellow hbcu's who we left hanging to die, just so that we can "keep our fans happy".
i mean, how "selfish" can we be? i mean, really? we want our cake and eat it too. we abandon a conference that really needs us, we give them the finger, join a pwc conference, and then beg them to play us so that we can, "keep our fans happy"?
wow, just wow. if the shoe was on the other foot, i'd tell ya'll to take a hike. should've stayed in the conference. its not the meac or swac's job to keep your fans happy, can't have your cake and eat it too...

I can understand how you fee oleschool, but I don't think we are "exploiting" our fellow HBCU's at all. They want to play us as much as we want to play them. I wanted to get Hampton on the schedule before the BS move...I would have preferred them to Elon or Charleston Southern. I'd like to see us play TSU as well. We have a large number of Alumni in the DMV...it makes perfect sense to play Howard/Morgan/NSU...because they are HBCUs as well. You think SCSU doesn't want to play A&T? I'm not as big on the Fla schools or SWAC schools because of distance. Now if it's in a classic and we get a nice payout, then sure...that said, as an HBCU we are naturally attracted to each other and I expect that when it comes to OOC opponents you will see those spots be filled by other HBCUs. Especially seeing that there are a number of fans that are against or lukewarm to this move to the BS...with me being one of them. Having HBCUs on our schedule or more HBCUs joining the BS will make our schedules more appealing to the fans. I would have loved for the MEAC to work out it's problems. For HBCUs as a whole to "get together" across regions and realign the conferences so that they make more sense...but that hasn't happened.

We on this board didn’t make any decision to leave. People are giving their idea of what they would like the future schedule to look like. So because those in charge made a decision that no one on this board had a say in, we’re supposed to all of a sudden want to stop playing other HBCUs? If the games are done as home and home, how is that exploiting them? Us going to Durham is one of centrals biggest pay days every other year. Sounds mutually beneficial to me.

For HBCUs as a whole to "get together" across regions and realign the conferences so that they make more sense...but that hasn't happened. i hear ya, but it's still having our cake and eating it too. tennessee state is a different matter, they had no choice but to join the ovc. so i don't see tsu as a "sellout" like we are and hampton are. now, i only speak for myself, so i want to make that clear. but if i were a member of the meac and the strongest athletic program in the meac (a&t) left us for dead while they "voluntarily" suck it up to a pwc conference who is "using a&t" for their very own survival and contributing to the demise of the conference a&t left me with, i wouldn't wanna cooperate with a&t just to make their fans happy. true those meac schools would like to play us, but i don't feel they still want to play us given the current circumstances. if i were them, i wouldn't. you left me here "to die" with no regard for my own future, yet you want me to help you keep your fans happy? well, what about my fans? you left my fans in a sinking ship as a result of your decision to leave us hanging and bounce to a pwc conference. yet you want me to help you to keep your fans happy? oh, hail no. let those big south teams keep your fans happy. you chose that bed, now you have to sleep in it. you got some nerve to ask me to help you to keep your fans happy after what you've done to my fans. its akin to breaking up with your ex girlfriend, but shortly afterwards calling her up to get you some even though you've now got a new girlfriend. and to make matters worse, your new girlfriend is white at that...

Sounds mutually beneficial to me. its not the same. we left our former meac rivals "for dead". our move to the big south hurts them and the very survival of the meac. why should they want to do anything that benefits us? we had no regard for their best interests, they very well may have to scramble to find another conference or drop back down to d2 because of our actions. our chancellor has spoken for all of a&t, so why shouldn't their chancellors/presidents speak for all of their universities the same way ours did? i'm sorry, if it were up to me the only way i'd play any current meac schools is if they asked me first. ain't no way in hail i'd call them for a game if they didn't call me first. but hey, that's just me. the meac pretty much took that same position when hampton first left the meac and to me, that's quite understandable. you may recall hampton going public regarding meac schools unwilling to schedule them when they first left the meac. to me, i would expect the same treatment for a&t...

Home and home is not exploiting anyone. of course it is. would you really expect them to visit aggie stadium without a return visit? the mere fact that we'll ask them to play us at all is "exploiting" them. it don't matter whether its a home-n-home deal or not. the exploitation is that a&t decided to leave them for dead in the meac. so now we want to "use them" for our benefit despite our actions to leave them for dead in a conference that very well could collapse as a result of our actions. its wanting our cake (joining the bs) and eating it too (playing nccu). it is exploiting nccu solely for our benefit while at the same time giving them the finger because we've damaged their future potential in the meac. you dayum right that's exploiting nccu. we'd be using nccu to help make our decision to leave the meac "easier" to deal with. if that ain't exploitation, i don't know what exploitation is and i clearly know what exploitation is. like i said in a previous post, that's like breaking up with your girlfriend and asking her to give you some even though you now are dating a white girl...

I think your just being too emotionally tied to this. It makes sense for them and us if both parties think about it. NCCU or any other MEAC school should not feel or shouldn't have felt disrespected if we moved to another conference. They should be trying to do what's best for them. Blind Loyalty gets you screwed sometimes.

How is T remaining in the MEAC helping out NCCU, FAMU, BCU, SCSU.
Our exit doesn't fix the internal financial problems at those institutions. They will have those problems if we stay or go. Those same problems could lead to some of them having to close their doors and in turn cripple the MEAC.
Short of T literally handing them money to get out of their financial struggles (which we dont have BTW) how exactly is T suppose to hold up those institutions? Maybe we should give them our entire administration, (whose to say they havent reached our to T for consultation).
Could someone please spell out exactly what can T do to help these institutions out from within the MEAC, since nobody wants us to leave?

Continuing to play them(whomever it may be) is though. And it helps us. So no exploitation is going on.

I believe the most we could have given them by staying was more time to figure things out ... and maybe a blueprint to emulate our success. Their schools looked more credible when folks knew they were in the same conference as A&T.
By leaving the MEAC now, we are pretty much pulling the plug on the Celebration Bowl and any chance for the remaining teams to generate any significant revenue.

"like i said in a previous post, that's like breaking up with your girlfriend and asking her to give you some even though you now are dating a white girl" Happens all the time this day and age lol. Your heart is in the right place at the wrong time. The conference survived just fine before NCCU, SSU, and WSSU joined while we were complete trash athletically. They will continue to be fine after we leave. If they fall apart it's not because of us, it's because of negligent leadership in the MEAC office. I truly can't call them negligent, but more so overly complacent and lack creativity. Everyone has spoken more positive about downgrading and dropping to D2 compared to upgrading to a "stronger" conference while remaining D1. How do you define progress? Something's you just can't fix with a stubborn girlfriend refusing to grow with you keeping your best interest in mind so it's better to part ways and rebound with Becky for a little while lol.
