Right now big concerns whether SC State and BCU will be able to maintain D1 status. State is down to 946 students with upcoming SACs review. BCU still has major financial deficits with an upcoming SACs review. According to SC State, that 946 number was a gross miscalculation of spring enrollment due to quite a few kids having unpaid bills for the spring semester. At State, they weren't counted as enrolled until that bill is paid. Still, it's gross mismanagement by their registrar and budget office for not closing out those bills well before thanksgiving. Hopefully, they'll give SACSCOC the actual enrollment numbers, and they're good because they're staring at a SACS Probation square in the face otherwise. SACS has a scheduled visit with SC State in February.

I believe that SC State's freshman class was probably 946 in the Fall of 2019. That's their freshman class only. But the last figure that I saw for their overall enrollment was 3,026.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
"South Carolina State University (South Carolina State) is a Public, 4 or more years school located in Orangeburg, SC. South Carolina State University is a historically black school. It is classified as Master's College and University (medium programs) by Carnegie Classification and its highest level of offering is Doctor's degree - research/scholarship. The 2019 tuition & fees at South Carolina State University is $11,060 for South Carolina residents and $21,750 for out-of-state students. 2,081 students (85.64% of the enrolled undergraduate students) have received grant or scholarships and the average aid amount is $8,967 at South Carolina State. The school has a total enrollment of 3,022 and student to faculty ratio is 6.25% (16 to 1)."

I think my info is more recent. thetandd.com/S.C. State board elects new chair; university readying for SACS visitAccording to preliminary figures, spring 2020 enrollment stands at 946 (808 undergraduates and 138 graduates) compared to a spring 2019 enrollment of 1,069 (899 undergrads and 170 grads).

If that's from the T&D and HBCU Digest, those numbers are incorrect, Allegedly. There's been a pretty good back and forth recently between Jarrett Carter (HBCU Digest) and SC State Alumni and Professors about those numbers.

The rumors and speculation are starting again about us to the Big South. Don't trust them. There are rumors of the Big South Iimploading themselves and their Football Schools moving over to a new conference ran by the A-Sun.

I’m hearing that the likelihood of the Big South Conference being around in 2030 is fairly slim.

The potted plant needs to be proactive and start his own rumors about the "big" south being absorbed by the MEAC.

It's more of a likely BCU will be forced out of the MEAC due to their accreditation struggles then A&T leaving for an imploding Big South.

Interesting statement, has it been announced that A&T will be leaving the MEAC and joining the Big South Conference?
