What the gop did is deplorable but Walker had less to do with it than people think. The maps are drawn by state lawmakers not federal. The truth whether people want to hear it or not both parties have used the black vote to gain advantage. NC has always been the most gerrymandered state in the union. For 100 years dems drew the districts.
As a former house member who is critical of both parties for this practice dont give people a pass for exploiting us. Dems drew maps and split districts so white dems can win in areas where clearly black Democrats should serve. We were marginalized espicially in Guilford County.
I say all that to say there is a real chance that dems may take back the house and Senate and able to redraw maps in Be cogniscent of the process. White people live in their privilige whether they have a D beside their name or a R.

I would avoid painting any group or race with a broad brush, but thank you for providing your perspective on this subject.

If we take Walker at his word, he said he would love to have all of the A&T campus in his voting district.
My question to him would be what are you doing on your end to make that happen, or ... are you just content with benefiting from an unconstitutional gerrymandering scheme by your own political party?
To be me, actions speak louder than words ... even if those words are "Aggie Pride".

Compensating athletes would be a lose lose for hbcus and all small schools. The only way it will work if the NCAA said that ALL athletes get paid the same amount regardless of what school they went to. The transfer portal would look a lot different. You think you could get a transfer student from a power 5 school would ever consider an FCS if that meant thousands in compensation. Moreover Walker does not explain why it would not work the same way for research students who arguably can bring in more money to the school than athletes. And if we go down that route what makes H.S. athletes not to say the same thing. They also have ticket sales and advertiser in their stadiums that generate revenue. Shouldn't they get a cut? Amateur is exactly that. We already have huge problems with gambling, wealthy alumni illegally helping students..aka Dennis Smith and others..this would exasperate that situation. I like Walker but I vehemently disagree with this policy. Its emotional and extemely situational..but its not practical to fairly implement where it would be fair to all college athletes and all colleges.

Keep following walker. Slick gopman. No matter what is other politics are, right now he represents the largest portion of A&T, so the school has to keep him accountable for the issues that directly affect A&T. Right now both he and Alma Adams are on the House Committee on HBCU Issues. That is where focus should be until the 2020 election. Also don't assume the Democrat will automatically have A&T's best interest in mind. For example, one of our goals is to increase research grant funding to $80 million. Who might best be able to secure grants from large corporations to make that happen? Because grants from the federal government will eventually dry up or stagnate. I am not by any means endorsing his politics overall, but I am saying be mindful of what he does for A&T in specific as well as what he may do for black people in general.
