Former Bethune-Cookman head football coach Brian Jenkins was arrested on Sunday on charges stemming from a domestic dispute, according to the Port Orange Police Department.

Jenkins, 48, was the head coach at B-CU from 2010-2014 and is currently the running backs coach at North Carolina Central.

He was booked on three separate charges, according to a police report, including tampering with a witness, battery and criminal mischief.

The incident occurred Sunday afternoon in Port Orange. According to police, Jenkins’ girlfriend, Shana Cox, was breaking up with Jenkins when he went to Cox’s home to try and reconcile the relationship.

The two began to argue and when Cox attempted to leave, Jenkins stood in front of the door and prevented her from doing so, the report shows. When Cox began to call 911, Jenkins grabbed her phone, held it above her head, and then threw it against the wall, disconnecting the call.

By the time Cox went and retrieved her phone, police dispatch had called back and officers were sent to the house.

According to the responding officer, Jenkins insisted that Cox shoved him into the door when he was trying to leave and grabbed his wrist. When he swung his arm around to stop her, he knocked her phone out of her hands.

Police said that Jenkins had no signs of injury on his wrist, and, due to his many changing stories, he was later arrested.

Jenkins went 46-14 with four Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference titles and three NCAA playoff appearances during his time at B-CU. He left the school for Alabama State in 2015 but was fired midway through the 2017 season. Last year he was an assistant at Alabama A&M before joining the North Carolina Central staff in January.

Jenkins was released from police custody on Monday and is set to be arraigned Aug. 21.

Not surprised by this ,dude has an explosive personality . I'm sure we all remember Coach Broadway's first year at A&T ,when we kicked BCU azz at home 22-5 . Jenks had 3 sideline interference calls on him personally ,he doesn't know how to deescalate his temper at all .Another incident I remember is when we played them in Daytona ,another game got postponed and they showed our game instead .They were kicking our butts royally ,their field goal kicker had already made 2 or 3 field goals ,anyway he missed one from about 35 yards . As he bent down to pick up something and stood up ,Jenks was on the field and grabbed him by the face mask and began to chew him out. He walked him all the way back to the side line still holding on to his face mask .The cameras came back to their side line 5 minute later ,and Jenkins was still chewing him out while holding on to his face mask ,geez .
If he behaves like that in public ,I can only imagine what he does behind closed doors ,one day he's gonna run up on the wrong one and get seriously F'ed up .

Before the call was made he threw her phone away and threaden her. I think a lot was done and said before the call was made. When she said to leave or I will call the police that's your free ticket to go without incident. Most guys can't walk away SMH.

these kind of incidents i might understand if you're a teen or very early 20s and just don't know any better. but jenk is a grown azz man, can't give him a pass. he's supposed to set an example for the kids he coaches, but this is not a good look at all.

how can he preach discipline to the team when he has none himself...
