Cockrell is from Charlotte; Clark Ala is from High Point Anna Cockrell's brother Ross played CB at Duke and for the Steelers, Giants and now for the Carolina Panthers. It also looks like Anna graduated in 3 years from USC and will be in grad school there in the fall. I hadn't made that in-state connection before. There's still a recruiting circuit that we've not tapped into yet.

When I say to good... it’s referring to attending a HBCU regardless of whether or not they are an athlete. Kids pick UNCG over A&T every year for some odd reason.

Financial aid packages and exposure can lead you to any school.

That's also a recruiting circuit if you wish to define it in that way.

Track and Field is know different then the AAU basketball circuit . You have AAU & USATF sanctioned meets all the way to Nationals along with your in-state meets that are not AAU or USATF but the kid do qualify for nationals . Then you have your Elite meets like the New Balance Nationals in Greensboro , Great Southwest in Albuquerque , Great American classic in Dallas and a few others in Florida ,California and Oregon and that is not counting Jamaica , Bermuda , Barbados , Canada and the European circuit . What HBCU'S are dealing with is not so much not wanting to attend and HBCU as it is wanting to attend the program that will get them to the next level i.e. national Championships or Olympics and Pro's . HBCU's had dropped the ball on track and field in stead of building on it's momentum when Dr. Walkers NCCU , FAMU, SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY , Norfolk State , Prairie View and st. Augustine's had those great programs . That allowed the bigger and better funded PWI to swoop in and take the Talented athletes right from under their nose . I remember a conversation I had with Spaceman . His vision was to make HBCU and A&T track & field relevant again along with being in the hunt for the top recruits in the nation A&T under Spaceman along with Hamptons program helped to make HBCU track relevant again . Fast forward to Coach Ross who has taken that vision to and Elite level Nationally but there is still work to do and funds to be raised for equipment and Facilities and scholarships . Let us not lose focus on track and field again because it's not a major revenue-producing sport .

With the budget at $1.4 million, what would it take for it to go to $2 million, aside from $600,000? I know Division 1 allows for 18 scholarships per team. Will the converted Aggie Dome practice facility and track resurfacing add to the budget or constrain things?

It shouldn't because all of that should have been accounted for in this physical years budget .
