I was in the stadium last week and the field was fine. I was there for the band blowout...now assume they still have track events that will take place before early September. But for right now, the field grass looks nice and green.

I saw the MEAC conference track meet online on Saturday. The field is not fine. The football team practiced on it this spring and it hasn't recovered yet. It was green but still very patchy. I just think our bar is set too low on what good looks like, and it changes depending on what month of the year it is. Maybe it look OK for the first week of May. The field will still be fine by June, and maybe that's good enough for most. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bw-6LhpnaC- As for the track, the surface still produces great times. Why do we need to replace it again?

Earl discussed this yesterday. The replacement of the track was held up this past year due to the state's single bid exception rule and now those issues have been resolved. In a nutshell, the track will be replaced with the newest state-of-the art surface immediately after football season in November. It will be the same identical surface that will be used in the next 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.

In a nutshell, the track will be replaced with the newest state-of-the art surface immediately after football season in November. Below is an article about Mondo and the 2020 Olympics. European athletes to get Paris rehearsal on Mondo track at Tokyo 2020 www.european-athletics.org/news/article=european-athletes-get-paris-rehearsal-mondo-track-tokyo-2020/index.htmlLast week, the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games signed an agreement with Mondo to make the company the Tokyo 2020 Sole Supplier in the Athletic Equipment and Athletic Track category. It will be the 12th consecutive Olympic Games, every edition since 1976, that Mondo have provided the track for the Olympic athletics competitions.â Mondo is extremely focused on helping track and field athletes improve their performance, not only because we want to provide the best conditions to perform, but we also want to help them record their fastest times ever during one of the worldâs biggest and most exciting competitions,â said Maurizio Stroppiana, General Manager of Mondoâs Sport & Flooring Division. âOur contribution to Tokyo 2020 is a great show of faith in our company and recognises our long-term commitment to the sport of athletics and to a healthy environment. We are inspired by the Gamesâ vision for athletes to achieve their personal bests.â

The field will still be fine by June, and maybe that's good enough for most. I think you have to look at the following two bios: Ernest Barrett BioAmber Monroe BioIn addition to committing to paying Coach Ross, we also had to commit to paying for additional quality assistants. This is especially true for Coach Barrett, who is basically a head coach on the distance/cross country side. There's no Regan Kimtai and no Men's Cross Country title without Coach Barrett. And the improvement in the throwing events by Aaron Wilkerson, Loren James and freshman Gabrielle Ryan in the javelin doesn't happen without Coach Monroe. I bring this up because sometimes we forget that we're on a tight budget just like our other MEAC brethren. Word is that we had a $25K donation over 5 years dedicated to the field maintenance fall through at the last minute due to unforeseen priority changes with the potential donor. That happens. But as has usually become the case with our administration, we prioritize the right things and are seeing the championship results. And if I had the extra money, my priority would be War Memorial Stadium. So I can live with the field being fine in June/July.

BTW, Memorial Stadium has now been cleared by the environmental people so the final official transfer of the Stadium from the city of Greensboro completely over to A&T should take place in about a month or so then we will start the real heavy renovations to Memorial later this summer that have been on the board for the last 3-4 years. We've already renovated the scoreboard, restrooms, and locker rooms.
