NC A&T player calls NC Central 'dirty' ahead of Saturday match upBy Mark Armstrong Tuesday, November 13, 2018 07:53PM When the Eagles and Aggies get together, it usually gets heated. That figures to be the case this Saturday in Durham as Central hosts A&T in their regular season finale. There is no title at stake for NCCU, but they can play wrecking ball with the Aggies MEAC Championship hopes. Before most rivalry games, coaches and players go out of their way to avoid inflammatory statements or anything that can be used against them in the opposing locker room. But for A&T, it was a different story. Offensive lineman Maquel Hardy told the media on Tuesday that N.C. Central is "dirty" and that the Aggies challenge was to "not stoop down to their level."Article Link Ain't nothing like stirring the pot like public comments. Upon further review... Hardy's comments were spot on. And for the most part... so was our composure & play. When keepin' it 💯actually works...

i noticed the players themselves taking major "restraints" to avoid personal fouls and that was a joy to see. and the one personal foul penalty we did get wasn't really justified, dude just gave a fan some "dap" and got hit with the yellow flag...

Yeah they pretty much policed themselves and when one would start mouthing off other players would grab them and diffuse the situation

We got a bs roughing the passer call too. I also noticed we took a delay of game penalty on a punt to give the punter more room to execute a coffin corner punt which almost worked. Take those away and we really improved our discipline. We’re far from perfect but they went a real long way to play above the competition mentally.

Micah Shaw had a not-so-great personal foul on a chop-block. He got pulled. Justin Cates got the roughing-the-passer penalty. He got pulled. Marcus Pettiford got an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on a PAT. Ron Hunt got an excessive celebration penalty following a TD.
2 major penalties within the game flow and 2 following scores. Given the circumstances... that's really good composure.

We were better........these things just get magnified when you're in tight games. I remember all of those penalties, but because we so thoroughly dominated them, they didn't matter. I did think we were overall much better, and I agree with OSA. Teammates were policing one another to not get caught up in some bull. It really isn't much to complain about with Saturday's performance.....the only thing I'm mad about is we didn't hit 50 points.

Coach Washington and his staff were more concerned with penalties due to "DEAD BALL FOULS" at critical times in the game. Those he considered were by overly aggressive players not using good judgement.

Some of the refs were over sensitive, slapping fives to a fan in the stands after a score was over the top in my opinion.

I think it was funny that they only had five first downs and I think we gave them 2 on penalties.

I'm glad this game's on replay on ESPN.... Rod Hunt got a 15-yd unsportsmanlike penalty for giving 5 to a fan who extended his hand out to him after a TD.....
You gotta be kidding me!!!

#5 was taunting multiple Eagles players after the game and squared up with one of them. It took one of our coaches multiple attempts to get #5 under control. Not for the first time this year either. I don't know what a player has to do to get kicked off, but if I were coach #5 would be done.

I saw that and was like WHY are you jogging around the field going over on their side knowing what could happen.

Sigh... A whole article around that one ill-advised quote. The old saying is "Any press is good press". LOL It can actually work by over-hyping the Birds if they're taking time to soak in the bulletin board material (which we know they are). Hardy didn't say stoop down to their level of play. He was speaking down to their level of dirty tactics, which is well-known over the past 4 years. And Hardy is from Philly, so if anyone knows dirty when he sees it, it's him. But he's right. If we don't stoop down to their level, we'll be fine. And Hardy will have one helluva story to tell his grandkids one time about that last NCCU game he played in. Hardy will definitely have a great story to tell his grandkids.

We play lights out. As far as the penalties, 2 really weren't penalties. So...I'm cool. But, you know what's an interesting stat...? No turnovers by both teams. Normally when you get beat like that (45-0), you at least turned the ball over once or twice.
