It's a great thunder & lightning combo.
I think Coach Washington would ideally want to run the ball 40 times & pass 30 in a game. So if Cartwright gets 20, Martin gets 15 and 5 between QB keepers & others... that means you're dominating the LOS and dictating the game.
Morgan St is likely going to be aggressive and run Cover 0... no safety and load up the box. Cartwright broke a long TD run in that game. So we'll get our chances on the ground and in single coverage on Saturday.

If Morgan plays cover 0 with the WRs we have, I would be calling slants and long post routes all game long. With the speed we have with WR and with Raynard's strength being the long ball, we'd feast on those dudes. Our slot receiver would have the game of his life.

Yeah but there's an "I" in chemistry, intangibles and leadership. Cartwright has done nothing to warrant a reduction in carries other than play against JSU and ECU. He's going to get a 100 yards a game against every team for the rest of the year. 25 carries is the bell cow. 10 carries is the change of pace back. You cut his carries that far, its clearly a reduced role. That's like flipping the snaps between Raynard and Carter. i agree with all of that. no way i would play martin ahead of cartwright. cartwright pretty much "never" turns the ball over and he doesn't get enough credit for that, especially given the number of carries he gets per game. cartwright has proven to be "reliable" in big games, don't know if i'm ready to trust martin in key situations yet...

I agree OSA . If it is not broke don't Tinker with it . The main thing for me is the Line play if the line is not clicking No one is going to change squat running or throwing and that right there is Fact .

We are spoiled, and I understand it. (From Fobbs to this). One thing for sure all we have to do is 'trust the process'.

I've been reading all the back and forth conversations just trying to figure out what "problem" we're trying to fix! We played two tough defenses with an inexperienced offensive line and won both games. We played a team last week with a bad defense and beat their brains out. So why do we need to make personnel changes?
We have a winning formula now so let's just ride it as far as it will take us.

When Cohen was a freshman he beat out redshirt senior Dominique Drake and senior Ricky Lewis for the starting spot about three or four games in. If Martin earns the starting role they'll give it to him. If he don't then they won't. We know this staff knows running backs and how to properly utilize them. No issue whatsoever in my book.

You're correct, but neither one of those guys you mentioned led the conference in rushing the year before. And honestly, Cohen didn't beat them out. He got his opportunity 5 games into the season against Hampton due to injuries and 200 + yards later, the rest was history.

Cartwright is a very solid, proven running back. I love the fact that he can catch the ball out of the backfield and does not fumble.
But Cartwright is not an explosive home run hitter. He is a bruising, 3 yards and a cloud of dust back. Reminds me of Michael Mayhew or Michael Ferguson.
It is early, but Jah-maine Martin might be a poor man's Maurice Hicks. One cut and see you in the end zone.

Just use em both. They're both valuable to our offense. I don't care who starts or who finishes. As long as each one gets his fair share of touches to keep opposing defenses off-kilter.

Cartwright is a proven winner. He ain't Cohen but he has been a good durable back. We would not have won the CB last year without MVP Cartwright.
How soon we forget!!
