The Board of Governors approved all of the increases on Friday. Pembroke, Elizabeth City and Western Carolina are in a supplemental program in which tuition and fees are dirt cheap. The other schools are pretty expensive. However, that's not new. I believe NCCU is slightly higher than A&T, and of course UNC and NCSU are the highest among the sixteen.

wow, so about 35 years ago when i graduated, tuition and board for a school year cost close to or slightly less than $4k for in state students. and now it has "skyrocketed" to $17k per year.
given the importance of a college education in this country, the good ole usa really needs to get the cost to attend college under control. instead of the "money grab" that "45" and the republicans gave to the richest 2% of folks in this country, they should've figured out a way to significantly reduce (or even eliminate) the cost of college like bernie sanders and obama tried to do...
