How many A&Ts are there again?
I find the whole # thing absolutely inane but people live by it nowadays so I shrug my shoulders. #A&T or #Ayantee builds a brand. #NCAT has people think you're talking about a postgraduate exam. As if explaining to people we aren't a telephone company isn't maddening enough, we're willingly adding to the confusion lol.
As far as the yellow dog face, now that we're moving to a top FCS conference, it's probably time to change that too.

That train has left the station. Part, if not all of it, is related to how social media works where hashtags don't work with special characters like "&", etc. #NCA&T, #NCA&TSU, etc. don't work. #NCAT works. #dealwithit LOL

I say AGAIN, the special characters (&, etc.) don't work in social media land. #Ayantee works but I expect people like/accept/say the 2 syllables better than 3.

Hell, Ayantee is the name of our yearbook. We missed a golden branding opportunity over a syllable? Genius.

We might hate the NCAT moniker but the younger generation loves the tag.

Methinks had we given them the Ayantee moniker they'd love that one as much.

We might hate the NCAT moniker but the younger generation loves the tag. I didn't know how big it was with them until recently. A high school student saw my custom "A&T" license plate and we started talking. She went on and on about the school, but she kept saying what sounded to me like "in cat". I wanted to correct her...I wanted her to say "A&T"..."NCA&T"...or even just "T". I was hard to be upset, with her because she spoke so highly about how all her friends wanted to go to "in cat". She knew the schools name, but that was just how the young people talk.

I correct them from the get go ..i.e do you mean NCA&T , A&T or Just T , it's not AT&T, NCAT OR CAT . If you don't correct the proper pronunciation you will end up being stuck with the results and the mispronunciation will continue . Aggie Pride makes me want to hear the name pronounced correctly.

I could care less about the use of the hash tag #NCAT. But there is an ENTIRE generation of young Aggies who bastardize our alma maters name and brand when they mispronounce it as "IN-CAT" and THAT grates against my soul. Talk about watching generations of branding go down the drain in a matter of a few years. Yikes. As Dooms pointed out, there is only ONE Ayantee...and somehow that is lost upon a new generation of students who would rather call the school "IN-CAT" because thats how they first encountered it on social media. So sad.

I guess some folk don't correct that either.

It's hilarious to push a narrative that the largest HBCU in the country has a messaging problem Have to disagree here. One of the simplest traditions you can uphold is your name. I went to grad school at OSU (Ohio State). One thing you're never gonna catch is a new generation of student referring to them as "Oh Sue." Lol. It's either O-S-U or Ohio State (or THE Ohio State University if you're feeling fancy). Protect your name at all costs. Not sure why that's so hard to understand. "In-Cat" sounds dumb.
