There have been some good punt/kick returner in A&T history but who you put #1.
Herbert Harbison Davonte Graham Curtis Deloatch Chris Caldwell Tony McRae Khris Gardin(moving up the list)
I know that I am forgetting someone.

In terms of impact.... Tony McRae. From the App St. TD in 2013 to the NCCU game TD in 2015 (even a 41-yard return in the CB), McRae did it in big moments for us.... which is why he has earned his shot at the NFL in Oakland.

Deloatch not only earned a shot but actually played a couple of seasons in the NFL. He had alot of big returns for that Championship team. Ghardin sealed the deal on the Hampton game this year and set the tone for the Celebration Bowl. I think when it is all said and done, he'll be the best.

i haven’t seen every return specialist in a&t history, so i’m really not qualified to say who is the all time best. but i’ve got to believe that would be khris garden since he’s broken a couple fcs all time records and is an all american return specialist...

It was close for me. And I agree that Ghardin is not done... although he may not get kicked to much this year. But I was up on the mountain in Boone back in September 2013 when App. St. had just scored to take a 6-0 lead in the 1st quarter. And we were playing without Kindle, so we had a lot of question marks in the passing game. And Tarik Cohen was in his 1st game... 3 carries, 9 yards. For Tony McRae to nail that 91-yard kick off return TD in that moment, under those circumstances.... you can make an argument for that being the most important play of this decade so far for A&T football, especially after what happened in 2011. There are no wrong answers on a question like this, so it's cool to see everyone's rationale.

Well, the numbers say it's Kris Gardin but, I'll tell you what...Romando North and Curtis Deloatch were fun to watch.

I agree.
But seeing as how Ghardin broke the FCS record, it's hard to argue against him. I'd put him first, Deloatch second (he had his own FBS record too) and North third.
I'm still incredulous that Deloatch was a walk-on and hadn't even planned to play football in college.

Biased towards Deloatch only because that is my era.

I have to vote Deloatch because he was tall and athletes he could play man to man corner or safety and punt return he was just a dam good athlete in mind. If you talking pure returner Ghardin.

hey, can we please spell this brutha’s name correctly? according to the aggie athletic website, his last name is spelled “ Gardin”, not “G hardin” with an “h”. don’t know where the “h” came from, i saw it so many times under this thread, almost had me using it...
