The second FBS game was unnecessary. If we are sitting at home in December it will be because of that game, not the Labor Day game.

....unless we win that FBS game - that would be huge. Nevertheless, common sense scheduling has to be enacted. We know the rules - we need to play by them.....

If we're sitting at home in December it could be because we ended up somehow going 4-7.
On the one hand I do understand the consternation about the lack of an fcs opponent and the possibility that we could miss the CB because of it.
On the other hand that's one of any infinite number of possibilities. Our best bet is to attempt to win the games before us and let the chips fall where they may.
If we do end up missing out on the CB solely because of the tiebreaker rule, I suspect we'll become more proactive in finding a winnable fcs game in the future instead of a $250,000 payday game. If it doesn't affect us (either because we make the CB again or we lose enough games to not be in consideration in the first place) expect to see us continue to schedule the fbs games.

I don't think finding a FCS school is that easy. Looks like taking off Elon of the schedule might end up biting us Like I told you...NDSU is available.

This has nothing to do with folks thinking we're smarter than Broadway or the administrators..... One of the major tiebreakers for the CB is OOC FCS COMPETITION - YOU WIN, YOU GET 4 POINTS..... --The MEAC has had multiple 1st place ties over the past few years --Our win vs Elon last year got us in. Central had no FCS wins to hang its hat on..... Until we have an MEAC championship game, if we don't have at least one OOC FCS game on the schedule, we're not putting ourselves in the best possible position to be in the CB. FYI --- we've lost to Central twice. We go to them this year. NCCU goes to Bethune Cookman this year. Don't be surprised if another 1st place tie may come up again. I'm not just critical of us ---- Central apparently hasn't learned its lesson either. They have Duke, Western Michigan and St Aug on their 2016 schedule......NO OOC FCS COMPETITION. Are we the only ones on this site who understand the tiebreaker rules? You are right on point. I believe the MEAC has ended in a tie 4 out of the last 6 years. Apparently A&T and NCCU weren't paying attention.

I wouldn't have a problem playing NDSU, especially since their QB will be gone next year. Just because we're in the CB now doesn't mean we should back away from legit FCS competition. Admittedly though, I would rather have a winnable FCS game on our schedule to get some CB tiebreaker points FIRST before scheduling NDSU.....

I'm telling you we're becoming SWAC clones. I think they've pretty much given up on competing with the rest of FCS. Look for an MEAC championship game soon.

Kent St.... Head Coach Paul Haynes is entering his 4th season.
2013: 4-8 2014: 2-9 2015: 3-9
They got smart and scheduled a MEAC school last year (Del. St) and won 45-13. So I guess they thought they could get any MEAC school in 2016 that met their schedule and be fine, right?
This might be the most talented senior class that A&T football has ever had in 2016. Let's see how this QB battle plays out, though.

the only reason there was a “tie” for the meac championship the last two years is because we loss to nccu both years. i’m not in favor of scheduling our way to an meac championship. how ‘bout winning the doggone championship on the “football field” instead of worrying about a tiebreaker.
our destiny was well within our own hands for the last two years without tinkering with the schedule. coach needs a warmup game every year for developing depth and ironing out any kinks and it has worked to our benefit in the past. so if it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it...

Kent St is the Savannah State of MAC and FBS football (outside of their 2012 season)......we should put them on our schedule as much as possible over the next few years if we're looking for an FBS 6-figure paycheck. I would also try to get a multi-year deal with Charlotte.

That's basically 3 FBS schools

Unfortunately, we haven't..... I agree - winning the MEAC title outright is priority #1 - but recent history doesn't lie. Rarely does a team go through the MEAC season completely unscathed and rarely is there not a tie. I understand your logic - but as the recent record books show, history has a way of repeating itself. If you choose not to accept what recent history has told you, you may not end up getting the results you desire in the present or future.

I would also try to get a multi-year deal with Charlotte. Yep... although if we beat Kent, it will be hard to get back on their schedule (see App. St). We have one for Charlotte... but that's likely to be too competitive for their tastes to go multi-year as well. No FBS program likes tough FCS games. It's worth a shot, though.

like i said, win the doggone championship on the football field and stop worrying about scheduling your way there. if coach feels a d2 game is in the best interests of his program, then what alum knows better than him? coach broadway is perfectly capable of knowing what's best for his program, far more so than a bunch of armchair ad's...
