As some of you may know, yesterday marked the 1 year anniversary of Jermane Clark's (#52) murder at A&T. I cannot imagine sending my child off to college, to then get a phone call informing me that he had been shot and killed while at school. Jermane and Lorenz played the same position (sometimes) - and they formed a connection/bond from the very beginning. A little more than 6 months after his death, Jermane's beautiful baby girl was born. Jermane never got to meet his princess - or hold her or give her a kiss from Daddy - and she never got to see the unconditional love in her Daddy's eyes.
It has been a year - and Jermane still does not have a headstone on his grave. The family just did not have the money for one - so all that is there is a tiny little metal plate. Several players (including my son) went to visit Jermane yesterday, as did some family members - and still, just the small metal plate with blue flowers and an A&T football sits on his grave.
Jermane will forever be a part of our Aggie family. I cannot help but to think about all the people that have graduated from A&T, played football WITH Jermane, view this board, attend games, cheer for all of our athletes and students .... If we all gave just a small amount, we could EASILY get a beautiful headstone put on Jermane's grave. If I could pay for the entire thing - I would do so in a heartbeat. As a parent, If this tragedy happened in our family, I would want to know that the family my son chose to become a part of still cared and remembered him, even after his death.
I have created a fundraiser with YouCaring - here's the link. www.youcaring.com/memorial-fundraiser/jermane-clark-52-headstone-fund/346674
Let's all come together to give his daughter a glimpse of what her daddy meant to our family and what the true meaning of AGGIE PRIDE is! If we all donate what we can, we can get there.
Here's a picture from yesterday of Jermane's daughter .... with her "Forever Daddy's Princess" shirt.
