Hilton delivered the Q&A. It was not received well by the masses as you would expect. A lot of the details of this bowl still have not been divulged to the schools or at least not to A&T at this point. The MEAC won't give a copy of the deal to the schools because that would make it public record. A1 What's is your understanding of the split between conference champ, MEAC HQ, and other conference schools? This shouldn't be a article of the bowl contract, but an internal agreement among the MEAC membership. Was there any discussion of the role of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta in this event?

So we gotta between 4,000 - 5,000 tix @ $40 - $50 a pop to generate that $200,000 in revenue. That's not an easy task but it's not the worse part of the deal. This game is really designed for those schools that have big alumni bases within a 2-3 hour drive/flight of Atlanta. And just for clarification: 20% of $800,000 = $160,000 30% of $800,000 = $240,000 At best, A&T can earn up to $440,000 in gross revenue from this game. However, between facilities and travel coming out of our pocket, we would only net only a small percentage of that amount. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if we had season ticket packages that had Celebration Bowl tickets. You are assuming the conference champ gets the small stick, why? Well, do you think the Front Office would even take up this deal without even getting a major cut of the pie? I seriously doubt that A&T would get over $600,000 from this game.

Season ticket prices will not increase this year. No final contract has been signed and the actual split has yet to be agreed to within the conference between 70-30 or 80-20. Westcoast pretty much nailed it. This thing is essentially set up to put some operating money into the pocket of the front office with a tiny bit to the member institutions. The projection given last night figures the net to the participating school would be approximately $180K as it stands now. Everyone else gets about 15K for their trouble.
100 Black Men? The MEAC isn't talking with their own members let alone the public. Let's just say the situation is.....uh fluid.

Though the MEAC HQ may get a larger share than the other schools, I can't imagine the Conference Presidents would agree to give the conference champ the smaller percent.

The 80 or 70% would go to the participating team...

The 80 or 70% would go to the participating team... If that is the case then we would be just fine if we make the game. That means we could gross up to $840,000 from this game. That would be way more than what we would gross if we made it to the FCS Champ. Game. That would be about 7% of the overall Athletic Budget.

This would also explain why ESPN was so adamant about having the MEAC champ in this game. But did anyone ask how the split would be? Could A&T get the majority of the cash paid out by ESPN?

You still have to subtract both team travel and band travel. And it's not feasible to ask the participating schools to handle all of that and only give them 20%of the payout. I know in the SWAC they were talking 80-20 with the 80% going to the participating school.

It also sounded like ESPN may be covering the expenses for the bands/cheerleaders, but not the teams. If that is the case, that does need to be factored in to be fair.

The 80 or 70% would go to the participating team... Exactly the 70 or 80 percent was in favor of the participating school.

You know, the more that I learn about this game, the more excited about it. It really seems that ESPN will treat us well.
