Our University is located in the south but Go-go music is very popular among our crowd. Who would've thought that? actually, i’m not really shocked by that. perhaps our demographics have significantly changed since my undergrad days, but when i was a student there were always a lot of out of state students at a&t from the washington, dc area where go-go music is king. plus, a lot of folks don’t know this, but the late great “godfather of go-go”, chuck brown, was actually born in gaston, north carolina before moving to dc where he grew up. so there is a connection between go-go and the state of north carolina. chuck brown is a go-go legend and during his life he often performed at hbcu’s in the states of north carolina, virginia, and maryland... I can fully agree. It was just a culture shock to me as a New Orleans native. Talk about cultural diversity. ...wow Aggie Pride!
