What's the tune the band has been playing this year? It hasn't totally caught on with me yet but at least it's better than "Ol Aggie Spirit". Hopefully that song has been retired and will only be played during GHOE. * running for cover in a zig zag pattern

if aggies have to ask what our fight song is, then in my mind we don't have one. "ole aggie spirit" and "i'm so glad" are sung by almost every hbcu. so i don't consider either one of those songs to be "our" fight song because everybody sings those songs at other hbcu's. but lawd knows we need something to fire up our "wine and cheese" crowd...

Stop blaming the "the wine and cheese fans" for the subdued atmosphere at A&T games. Win some darn games and the fans will make noise. The day and age that a "fight song" meant anything to HBCU college died with cheerleaders with megaphone! The football team's winning season started to get the crowd making some noise until we laid an egg in Durham. And who in the right mind is going to cheer for the 1 and 9 men's basketball team?
Fan noise and enthusiasm will return naturally if you consistently win.

I can't wait until the Cowbells start ringing. That may be a fight song.

Well you can keep complaining about the "wine and cheese" fans but they buy the season books and show up for the games.

I'm loving the dialogue. More catchy "Aggie pride" songs would do wonders. We're getting out dated now, but it's still a staple to hear our band play certain songs we're known for. Believe it or not the very songs you get energized over now are terrible songs lol. Examples below: NC A&T "smash something/middle finger you" youtu.be/hGR1YNdwqi4Original: "for my hustlaz" youtu.be/TcGdLAKJ56IThe Aggie Pride Pride song "A-G-G-I-E what P-R-I-D-E what give me that, give me that" song youtu.be/1qjnc4bnVygOriginal: "Coorperate thugging" youtu.be/wAcTIpeP_2gI like that we're pushing the envelope by turning negative songs into our very own positive songs. Maybe we can go further by making chants for your "Aggie Classics" It would be nice for us to come up with our own original song but that would take some serious work because our student body is so culturally diverse. Example: Our University is located in the south but Go-go music is very popular among our crowd. Who would've thought that? We are built to continue to make history and turn corners. I love the way everyone on this forum is always trying to figure out ways to improve our crowd. Wine and cheese or not, they were still students at one point so everyone knows how Aggies were brought up in their day on campus. The right setting will break anybody out of their shell. We just have to get the setting right.............

Well you can keep complaining about the "wine and cheese" fans but they buy the season books and show up for the games. So is that a justification to NOT cheer and pump up the teams you're buying books to see? Not quite sure I'm following your logic. Making the atmosphere exciting and interesting coupled with winning is how you draw in additional interest from those outside the normal faithful few.

Our University is located in the south but Go-go music is very popular among our crowd. Who would've thought that? actually, i’m not really shocked by that. perhaps our demographics have significantly changed since my undergrad days, but when i was a student there were always a lot of out of state students at a&t from the washington, dc area where go-go music is king. plus, a lot of folks don’t know this, but the late great “godfather of go-go”, chuck brown, was actually born in gaston, north carolina before moving to dc where he grew up. so there is a connection between go-go and the state of north carolina. chuck brown is a go-go legend and during his life he often performed at hbcu’s in the states of north carolina, virginia, and maryland...

Making the atmosphere exciting and interesting coupled with winning is how you draw in additional interest from those outside the normal faithful few. This is not a cheer vs. not cheer issue...I cheer and so do a lot of my "wine and cheese" fans but what you want is a sustained noisy stadium and that's not going to happen. My days of standing all game and screaming at the top of my lungs for four quarters are over. I love my Aggies and I yell, whistle and stomp but I'm not going to yell all game. .. just not physically able. And no "fight song" is going to change that. My suggestion is to get a younger crowd to show up for the games. A few hundred more students in the stand can do wonders for the noise level in Aggie Stadium.
