Hey everybody that get's in the playoff is "playoff ready." Does that mean they won't get their helmets knocked sideways in their first game...no! But that's why they play the playoffs. Everybody that gets in the playoff may not be a championship team but you don't know until they play the games. Can we beat North Dakota State? Probably not but on any given Saturday we can beat a lot of the "playoff ready" teams with winning records. I just want a shot at them and here's why...

Hey everybody that get's in the playoff is "playoff ready." We beat the people on our schedule...even if they did have losing records. It's not our fault they sucked. We took care of our business. Being "playoff ready doesn't mean you won't get the snot beat out of you in the first game. It just means you are "one of the better teams" in the FCS.
1. Our kids have played well this year and getting in the playoffs would be a big boost for them 2. Getting some playoff experience this season will help us get prepared for next year's playoff season when our team will be a monster 3. I'd like to see how our coaches and players match up with other playoff teams this year so we can fill in the gaps 4. I love A&T football and this will give me some more (maybe one) games to attend.

Playoffs? Ya'll talking about playoffs? We still have three huge games to play. Let's deal with Morgan State first.

Being in the playoffs would be fine but we have too many game's left on this season before we start thinking about the playoff season. I'm staying focused on the MEAC right now because A&T can not afford any setbacks at this point.

I'm speaking playoffs if we win out....there's no guarantee we get in if we win out. We are on the losing end of the tiebreak if SCSU and BCU win out. So, I'm speaking hypothetical. ..but, again, it would be tragic if we were to miss the playoffs IF we win out. That is a possibility you know. And, I think we have the best chance of winning in the playoffs of all the MEAC teams...my opinion.

Remember.....24 teams make it to the playoffs now. 10-2 equals playoffs. I sure hope North Dakota State has some footage on Keyes and Cohen. I do want the FCS championship game to be competitive.....for at least 3 quarters.

I don't think anybody here is suggesting that we can win it all this year. I question the belief that we will make some noise if selected. There is a difference in being conference competitive and playoff competitive. I don't think we have taken the playoff competitive step this year. Being selected or being the AQ for the playoffs means only that. It doesn't mean you are among competitive equals. You have to prove that, you can't say it and make it so. There have been at least 5 MEAC teams that in the last 15 years that were undefeated or had one loss in their conference contests. I'm sure their fans also said "this team will make some noise". The best of that group was probably the 2008 and 2009 SCSU teams. They were competitive in there first round games, but they didn't make any noise. Again, our in conference success is not a good measuring stick of playoff success.
We have a good team and a great coaching staff, but success in the playoff is garnered by teams with superior execution on both sides of the ball, I don't think we have achieved that plateau this year.

Well stated 77. In the playoffs if you are not 3 deep with no drop off between 1 & 2 and very little drop off between 2 & 3 on the O and D Lineman you can win in the playoffs. We have the backs , and a fair QB, fair receivers, Good LB's and DB's but do we have backups that are just as good ? Because that is what you will need too win in the playoffs.

I agree, and I think everybody else does too deep down.
Look at the last hbcu teams to be successful in the playoffs. FAMU and WSSU. Both of them blew out their conference opponents game after game. If you're playing a lot of close games in a weak conference, it does not bode well for you once you get matched up against a team that's been playing stronger opponents week after week.

If I was hc, my game plans for the next three games would incorporate playoff related tactics. Per dooms post, it's difficult to make playoff related adjustments in one week due to the weakness of our conference opponents.
Therefore, contrary to most on this thread I would start preparing for playoffs. Just don't tell the players.

Maybe MEAC football is improving but your point is well taken and I point to last Saturdays game - Morgan at Villinova. The game was tied at halftime 28 to 28. Nova went on to score 20 more and Morgan blanked in the second half. Which to me indicates a strong Nova bench with Morgan having a clear drop-off as they moved past the starters.
A good indication of how deep we are on the lines would be how many players that are actually in the rotation in meaningful games.

Yep....Just trying to have a little fun here..... But with Quick at QB.... we do have a puncher's chance... that's an improvement from last year...
