Well, the team is better than last year's team too. A LOT better. Probably the best team we've put on the field since '03.
Dang, that's sad.
That being typed, this team still hasn't come close to reaching its potential or putting it all together on either side of the ball. Special teams has a game or two.

Maybe MEAC football is improving but your point is well taken and I point to last Saturdays game - Morgan at Villinova. The game was tied at halftime 28 to 28. Nova went on to score 20 more and Morgan blanked in the second half. Which to me indicates a strong Nova bench with Morgan having a clear drop-off as they moved past the starters. A good indication of how deep we are on the lines would be how many players that are actually in the rotation in meaningful games. pound for pound, morgan state has one of the "biggest" offensive lines in the country, barr none. when you can hold your own in the trenches, you'll always have a chance to win. see, i personally believe talent wins playoff games, not coaches. i think the best fcs teams in the country have better overall talent than meac teams, including the scsu's and bcu's of the world. as some have already stated, just because we perform well in the meac doesn't mean we'd perform well in the playoffs. again, its been 15 years since the meac won a playoff game and it ain't primarily because of poor coaching. honestly, i'd stack coach broadway and his staff up against any fcs staff in the country and doubt that i'd find too many that's better. if coach broadway had n. dakota state's talent, he'd win a national championship this year. i think hbcu's come up short on "talent" in the playoffs, particularly "in the trenches". bcu, arguably the most talented team in the meac over the last couple of years, got "blown out" in the playoffs every year coach jenkins took them there. not even a close game and one or both of those games were on bcu's home field. there's a reason why hbcu's don't perform well in the playoffs and it can't all be blamed on the coaches, not even most of the blame...

Consider this --- CCU (whether you think they're the 2nd best team in the nation or not).....is the 2nd best team in the nation. If you all recall, we did better in the 2nd half vs CCU than the first half.....THAT'S HUGE!!! What kills HBCUs when we play OOC is that we tend to hang for the first half, but the opposition gets things corrected in the 2nd half (ala Morgan/Villanova or Hampton/Richmond back in the day) and beat our heads in..
Unlike others....I'm not worried about depth when it comes to our team. Our problem has been 1) Talent 2) Coaching 3) Health
Our health (primarily Quick) is back. We are now starting to use all of our talented players We have a coaching staff that makes adjustments to where we perform better as a 2nd half team
My only concern as we move forward is our aggressiveness, particularly on offense. If Bustle can continue to mix the run and pass for the rest of the season, WE ARE A DEADLY TEAM!! I just don't think past MEAC teams in the playoffs have been diverse enough to hang with legitimate FCS competition. If Quick continues to improve like he has, we are well ahead the "MEAC Bell Curve" as it relates to potential playoff success.
Folks used to complain about me talking down about this team......NO LONGER.....we have all the ingredients to be successful NOW.

I agree...I also understand the proof is pudding, we have to go out there for 3 more games show this. We aren't playoff tested or anything but, that could be a good thing as well. If we make the playoffs, we'd be playing with house money (nothing at all to lose). So, that's a level of pressure off their backs to begin with. Then if we play loose, we can give anybody fits with our speed. I'd like to see this team in the playoffs, not that we'd run the table or anything, but I do believe we'd put teams on notice on what to expect for years to come.

Just remember gentlemen that the playoffs if we make them well be a New season in it's self. You have too throw out most of what happened and what worked in season one. Even if we have played them before we must expect the unexpected. All teams are better in the playoffs .

Pretty much this.... with one caveat.... We're actually in playoff mode NOW..... every game is a must-win... So we should be playing like there's nothing to lose now.... and let the chips fall where they may....

What would be nice to see is that we fire on all cylinders over these next 3 games.....put it all together
With this weeks bye I think we have a chance to do just that

This football season is a freeby for me. I didn't expect this team to be as good as they are. I expected next year's team to be championship caliber. So as far as I'm concerned we are a year ahead of schedule.
We have three Conference games left and I think we can win them all. And with an extra week to prepare for the Morgan game we should be ready for them.
