The Aggies will play arguably their toughest conference this Saturday in Atlanta against South Carolina State.
Last Year, the Aggies lost to the Bulldogs 29-24.
But that was in 2013...
Looking forward to this week, SC State appears to have trouble scoring points, just scoring 17 in their last two contests which were both wins. Against Hampton, although the QB's were 12 of 20, they only averaged 6.3 yards per completion and were just 4-12 on third down.
Their defense also gave up 189 yards rushing and Hampton had more third down conversions than State. Against Furman, they only went 4-15 on third down and only threw the ball for just 92 yards. They ran the ball easily on Furman but they could convert third downs or score in the red zone except in the 4th quarter.
This game is very winnable for the Aggies if Quick, or whomever the QB is can effectively pass the ball on the Bulldogs.

I don't think this game will be pretty.... I don't know the status of Quick or Cohen....
We won't win if we have 3 turnovers vs SCSU (like we did vs Howard). We also had 14 penalties for 97 yards. That's simply too much for the 5th week of the season. The team with the least amount of turnovers/penalties will win this game.....I hope that team will be us.

Two questions; will Cohen be 100% and will Quick be 100%.

He's absolutely right. Broadway is not going to tell anyone anything Aggies hobbling toward game in Atlanta
By Jeff Mills/News & Record jeff.mills@news-record.com | Posted: Monday, September 29, 2014 5:08 pm
GREENSBORO — The star tailback is hurt. The starting quarterback is hurt. And the coach doesn’t want to talk about it. Because you never know who’s listening. N.C. A&T (4-1, 1-0 MEAC) will play S.C. State (3-2, 1-0) at the Atlanta Football Classic in the Georgia Dome at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The Aggies lead the MEAC in total offense and scoring offense. But it’s an offense built around sophomore tailback Tarik Cohen and junior quarterback Kwashaun Quick. And both of them spent this morning at doctor’s appointments. Their playing statuses for the key game in Atlanta are, ahem, unclear. “I don’t know about this week,” A&T coach Rod Broadway said about Cohen. “He’s seeing the doctor. We’ll find out later.” Same deal with Quick: “We’ll find out later,” Broadway repeated. After a few moments of uneasy silence, Broadway explained that he, well, wouldn’t explain. “Here’s the thing: I don’t mean to give short answers,” Broadway said. “But I can’t give South Carolina State information on us. I can’t say something they can use. All coaches search everything we can to try to find some advantage. "So I’m not going to put that stuff out there for them. Let them find out on their own where we are and what we’re doing. That’s just the way it is. I don’t mean to sound short or blunt. But I just can’t give out information on my football team that other people could get their hands on and use against us.” For the rest of the story: www.news-record.com/sports/college/aggies-hobbling-toward-game-in-atlanta/article_bb752488-481c-11e4-bf93-0017a43b2370.html

....don't blame him one bit. However, if Broadway gives me a call this week and wants me to suit up behind the center, I'll let you all know.

It's official, Cohan and Quick will start this Saturday and you can tell everyone at SC State that. Now for us Aggies, we really will not find out until kickoff and I can live with that. But as you saw at Howard, Broadway expects the "next man up" to do their job. It will be a tougher game for us to win without either Cohan or Quick but it's not impossible. Let's hope Aggie Nation shows up in big numbers for this game like they did at Howard. Don't forget...show your Aggie Pride by wearing your Aggie Gold!

This will be a hard-fought game. If Quick is functional, I see us winning by double-digits. If Klugh is starting and we can minimize TOs... we're looking at single-digits.... Bustle will have a Klugh package ready, though...
The only way Cohen doesn't play Saturday is if his leg is completely broke in two... and that's if you ask him... dude is a warrior....good move by the coaching staff to protect him from himself at Howard.
SC State had issues with Cohen last year (8 carries, 62 yards). We had 177 yards rushing total on 49 carries. Cartwright is already a greater threat that either Drake or Lewis provided last year. Cohen and Cartwright together....this is what we've been hoping for.
Last year, we held SCSU to 86 yards rushing on 38 carries. But they gashed us in the passing game, with Richard Cue going 17-28 for 236 yards and 2 TDs. 9 catches, 174 yards and 2 TDs were split between senior WR playmakers Tyler McDonald and Caleb Davis, who will be in the stands on Saturday, along with Cue.
The time is now.... let's channel our energy into prayer, support and confidence in our team as we march on ATL!!!

If we somehow go into this at full strength I like us by double digits. If Cohen & Quick can't play then I give SCSU a slight edge.

Pough celebration of 100th win short with eyes on ‘tough’ N.C. A&T in Atlanta Classic 8 hours ago • By THOMAS GRANT JR., T&D Senior Sports Writer Buddy Pough’s “celebration” of his 100th victory as South Carolina State head football coach this past Saturday extended only to watching the final seconds expire on the 17-10 victory over Hampton. “We celebrated with a win,” said Pough at Monday’s weekly press conference. “That’s the most important part of the whole deal.” Since returning to Orangeburg, Pough’s primary focus is Saturday’s Atlanta Football Classic opponent North Carolina A&T. While the Bulldogs (3-2, 1-0) have won 12 of the last 13 meetings, Pough knows this is not the same Aggies’ team he’s defeated in 11 of them. “It’s going to be a struggle,” he said. “Their entire offensive plan is very similar to our plan. They want to stretch you outside, make you defend the field, have a good screen game. They’ve got a little power in their game. There are differences, but there are similarities. “Any time you try to heavy up one place to stop something, (N.C. A&T) makes you pay somewhere else, which makes offensive football what it is today and what makes defensive football as tough as it is because they make you defend the whole field. That being the case, it’s going to be tough, it’s going to hard to stop them,” Pough said. Pough expects North Carolina A&T (4-1, 1-0) to have both quarterback Kwashaun Quick and preseason All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference running back Tarik Cohen available Saturday. Quick (65-119, 724 yards, 5 TDs; 60 carries, 330 yards, 6 TDs) left this past Saturday’s 38-22 win over Howard in the third quarter with an undisclosed injury and Cohen (60 carries, 563 yards, 7 TDs) was sidelined reportedly with an illness. Cohen was replaced by freshman Marquell Cartwright, who earned The Sports Network’s Freshman of the Week after rushing 33 times for 135 yards and two touchdowns to go with three receptions for 21 yards. The back seven will have to tackle better in space than they did last year. SC State got plenty of Yards After Contact and broke short passes into long TD plays in 2013. If we tackle better and keep the Bullpups behind in downs and distance, we will force them to punt more than they want to and win the time of possession. Doing those things will leave the game in our hands, especially if we take some cues from Coastal Carolina.

We better be going over tacking fundamentals with our secondary this week. We can't give up the YAC.
