Full staff hasn't been named yet, but George Small will be one of his assistant coaches.

I'm glad he's back coaching but I hate to see him in Urnge and Green. I'm assuming he's coaching the d-line. If so FAMU has the best d-line coach in the conference and one of the best in I-AA.

I can't wait to see Joe Taylor's full staff. I think Coach Taylor's announcement of his full staff will be just as interesting to me as the announcement of Coach Fobbs' new offensive coordinator.

I'm beginning to suspect we'll see another "black college coaching all-stars" staff similar to the one we had under Small. Get ready for one and done come playoff time.

Weather you like Small or not Joe T. is putting together coaches who has had some experience as assistance or Head coach. Thats how you ramp up fast. This is why Broadway been so successful. If Fobbs ever get fired his staff would always be in question.

This comes from the FAMU message board...... Coach Taylor hired two assistants from Hampton. He hired the o-line coach Lawrence Kershaw and his son Aaron Taylor the running back coach.

Holmes returns to Rattlers
By Heath A. Smith TALLAHASSEE DEMOCRAT STAFF WRITER
Although it is the offense that is credited with the success Florida A&M's football program enjoyed in the mid to late 1990's, it was actually a one man wrecking crew on defense that ushered in the Rattlers' golden age under former head coach Billy Joe.
His name was Earl Holmes, and if you were an offensive player in 1994 and 1995, you didn't want to see him on the other side of the ball.
Holmes, who set several school tackling records during his career as a Rattler linebacker, has joined FAMU head football coach Joe Taylor's staff as an assistant coach.
Holmes will specifically work with the inside linebackers.
"He (Holmes) was here when they understood what winning was about," Taylor said from his office Thursday afternoon. "Certainly he knows what it takes to be a good linebacker."
Holmes is one of five assistant coaches to join Taylor staff so far. The others are Tim Edwards (recruiting coordinator/linebackers coach), Lawrence Kershaw (offensive coordinator/offensive line coach) and Aaron Taylor (running backs coach).
"I am so, so blessed. It's like being drafted again. I got a chance to sit down and talk to some of the players today," Holmes said.
Taylor, who left for the FAMU National Alumni Association's winter meeting Thursday evening, said he would continue conducting interviews Monday to fill his defensive coordinator, tight end and special teams coaching positions.
Holmes, a native of Tallahassee and a graduate of FAMU High, is FAMU's all-time career leader in tackles with 509. Holmes also holds the single-season record for tackles with 171 in 1995 and the single-game record with 30 against Southern in 1995.
The two-time All-American was drafted in the fourth round by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1996, declaring himself the best linebacker in that draft.
Holmes went on to have a 10-year career in the NFL, playing for the Steelers, Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions, where he finished his career.
Although, Holmes has never coached at this level, Taylor said his ties to FAMU and Tallahassee, as well as his wealth of NFL experience make him a perfect fit for his staff and should be a plus in recruiting.
"I'm really excited to have him on our staff," Taylor said.
