When does the new coordinator have to be in place? Did Battle enfore a deadline of potential candidates or coaches? This is valuable recruiting time and we need to have someone in place to show recruits within the next couple of months that we are trying to right this ship. I dont want this "Search" to drag on past the signing day because then we'll end up with another NIAA journeyman coach.

There’s so many guys out of work right now I’m sure that if Fobbs was interested in hiring on an o.c. one would already be aboard unless he’s offered a few and they are weighing other options. I have to wonder how interested Fobbs is in hiring one. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was satisfied with the improvement in the competitiveness of the team and felt that bringing aboard an o.c. at this juncture would ruin the cohesiveness of the staff.

Is it true that we are offering a new O.C. at least $74,000? If this is true, there should not be a problem finding someone with the potential to do a good job. I say potential because resently we have not had too many competent hires.

The figure I heard was somewhere between $70,000 to $85,000. Hell, you could throw on additional $15k to that and get you a real 1-A coordinator.

I am just a little concern we have not seen any changes hire or fire in his staff. Clearly he has had his evaluation of his Assistance. How can you go 0-11 and continue with status quo
All I can say is no excuses next year. A minimal of 6 wins in my book or you out of here.

We will win 6 games off of talent alone next year, and lose 3 - 4 close games b/c of coaching . Heard it hear first.

Just based on the last two posts (trues and your royalness). Fobbs get another year. I say the minimum win number is 8 to keep his job, but who knows!

And I really think we need an OC and QB coach in one ($85K) and we really need to find a proven special teams coach also. How much will that cost? Scholarships for 2008? Defer a full allotment of scholarships to 2009....Tell Fobbs his coaching ability is being judged and here's your expectations for 2008...stipulations usually garner results....

I think the players should play a major role in deciding if Fobbs stays or goes. I don't think that was something that was taken into account during the last transition. Maybe we wouldn't have lost so much.

Players were involved and new Smalls and Co.'s fate a few weeks before it actually happened. THey werent (nobody was) however involved in the coaching search as I felt they should have been.

Why would you let 19 and 20 year olds decide the direction of your football program? Players need to do what their coaches tell them, concentrate on their class work, and keep their mouths shut.
You don't let foot soldiers plan a war strategy.

Not involved persay, but engaged with what kind of coach and man they would like to see hired. I think thats common practice to kinda get a gauge from a few select and mature seniors of what fit they think would work for the team..

That's akin to letting the inmates run the asylum. Football players should not need to tell you what they want in a coach. Administrators are supposed to tell the players "this is your new coach, now shut up and do what he says." We don't need to find a coach that will work with our players; our players just need to follow the orders of that coach. Bottom line.
And stop calling me Percy.
