Aggiehood08, you are watching too much TV.....
I am just kidding the comeback was laying out there.
08, do you suggest that Fobbs go out get another QB to run the spread option or coach the QBs he currently have to run this spread offense? BTW, Fobbs will need some receivers, also, for this offense.
App State coaches knew exactly what they were looking for in a QB because they replaced their national championship winning QB with a freshman QB at the beginning of the season last year.

Uhh.. We do run a spread option, but its hard to make it look good when there is no threat of a deep pass or without 5 decent o-linemen.

You don't need the threat of a deep pass. And our linemen paved the way for Fergie to get good yardage with one hand.
It's hard to make it look good when it's executed like it was an afterthought at practice. Our execution was poor. Again.
It's my opinion that you have to get away from running what everybody else is running. That makes it harder to prepare for what you run. When we ran the wing-t we used to kill folks with it because they only saw it twice a year (us and Del State was running it too). Then Hampton came into the conference. When they first joined the conference they ran it too (they just passed more out of it). So suddenly it became the most common offense in the conference. So it didn't work as well.
Now nobody's running it. I think it would work provided we executed it at good speed. I think it fits our skill position guys very well. I also think nobody on the coaching staff gives two poops what I think.
Fobbs and co. ultimately have to run what they are comfortable teaching. There are few things worse than watching a head coach call the wrong play because he doesn't understand the new offense his coordinator put in. I've seen it. Hayes did it repeatedly in his last year.

there is nothing knew from any of these offenses... actually they are borrowing plays from one another... misdirection is misdirection whether it's from the spread or the wishbone or whatever.... i can't understand why no coach has figured that out yet.... in the spread if you have a qb who is a threat to run... you have to take him out first... he is nothing but another jc watts... only... his 2nd option is to pass...
