man, this dude comes from a “powerhouse” private school high school league (wcac) here in the dc area. so he played against “top notch” competition and is well tested. all the schools in his league recruit guys (without boundaries) to play at their school. and its legal because all of the schools in the wcac are private catholic schools and they all have superior academic reputations. a lot of these guys receive scholarships for their tuition at the wcac schools. the wcac is a whole different level compared to public schools, they “rarely” if ever lose games to any public school team regardless of the school’s classification. so the dominant plays you see on his highlight video comes against top notch competition. also, its very likely that this guy won't have any academic problems as far as our apr goes because wcac schools are excellent academic schools and most of them are "college prep" schools. so i expect that he's very academically sound... We lost only three linemen total to graduation combined on both sides of the ball and a very nice group that didn't play last year but will next month when spring practice starts. We're stocked up on both sides of the line. Venable like some of the other new kids graduated HS early and are already in school so they will get an early sart with spring practice next month. PJ, I saw Andrews play nearly every week and I can say this without hesitation. Marquell Cartwright is a freak of nature at tailback. He can do it all. He's tough as nails, tremendous strength, speedy with a great stop and go step in finding the open space.
You can give it to him 30 times a game with no fatigue problem. The more carries the better he gets. He'll run around you, over your, and through you. He has great hands out of the backfield. He's a man. Cartwright is the true real steal out of this class. Having both he and Tarik Cohen in the same backfield is going to be hell to contend with for everyone we play. =============================== Aggie One, thanks. Man-o-Man I love what I'm reading. Great Work AGGIE One.

Can anyone confirm if Best is really 6-7. We got him listed as 6-3 on A&T list. That is a huge differential. I could understand to be a inch or 2 off but 5 inches. Someone is lying big time.
Thrilla seem to believe we cannot recruit big 6-7 linemens to A&T so please make him out to be a lie. if someone can prove this young man is really 6-7 that would make my day.

"Best, a 6-foot-7, 320-pound offensive tackle, signed to play at North Carolina A&T. Strayhorn , a defensive lineman, will play nose guard and fullback at Guilford College."

There is zero chance that kid over 6'5. And I haven't even seen him yet.
I am a legit 6'4 so when I attend the next practice I will try to stand next to him and tell you what's up.

Honestly, I don't know if thrilla said we couldn't recruit 6'7" linemen or not. But I know I've stated that we couldn't recruit enough linemen of that size to fill a two-deep depth chart. I wouldn't trumpet getting all of one dude that size if I were you. Especially when we haven't seen him play a down. I remember we had a legit 6'6" 320 pound lineman under Hayes and Small (I forget his name) and he got hit with more holding calls than the rest of the line COMBINED. Sizes do not play the game.

Doom I agree...one 6'7" lineman isn't going to be a "game-changer" but I do like the fact that we at least got one. There's no guarantee any of these kids will be able to perform at the college level but I do like the fact that we are getting these types of kids. Let's hope Broadway also understands that "sizes do not play the game."

Dooms you missing my point I was really more concern about the huge differential between we have him listed 6-3 and the High school paper have him listed as 6-7.
Now i have heard thrilla say out of his mouth we are not going to get a 6-7 6-8 linemen coming to A&T. And no size does not matter especially if you are slow.
Yea you right we want fill in the two - deep dept chart gap but Aggie one pointed out with have some dept with size.

In 2 years Has Downing ever practiced at NCA&T?. Gusler is not practicing this spring. Isles was listed at 6-5 , Kay and Tyner were not that tall. Parker and best are taller than Isles

Seems like a nice idea. I think UNC has a practice at a Greensboro High School as well
The North Carolina Central University football scrimmage scheduled for Saturday, March 29 at Rocky Mount High School has been postponed due to the inclement weather expected to hit the area.
The "Eagles Down East" scrimmage has been rescheduled for the following Saturday, April 5 at 12:30 p.m., still to be played at Rocky Mount High School. Admission is free.
