Now that Wheeler has officially taken over all AD duties, what do you think he needs to do to turn things around?

If Fobbs is going to be retained, they need to hire a offensive coordinator. Let Fobbs know his contract will not be renewed when it expires regardless of how he performs. Maybe he will start job hunting earlier and leave earlier. Let the OC know that his performance could lead to the head coaching opportunity if he makes a difference.

1. GET RID (Reassign, Handcuffs ect..) OF FOBBS IF POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!! 2. Get me and DOOMS boy from Clearwater D-III........ 3. Fundraise, Fundraise, Fundraise!!!!!!! 4. Find talent? Get our boy from D-III Clearwater, He might look at our buget and say I can work wit it........ Hell, If we could get him here with next's seniors we might run through the MEAC..... It's crucial for WB to make the right moves.......... Good luck!!!!!!!!!

If my option does not go through... The OC has to happen!!!!!!

People, for the umpteenth time: Battle has already met with Fobbs and told him he is safe for one more year. Like it or not Fobbs will be coming back in 2008. Wheeler has no say so in that matter.

I like the OC idea, although it might be considered a demotion of sorts to Fobbs. But if Fobbs has any sense at all, he must realize that he is on the hot seat and needs to do something different to turn this thing around in a big way next season. Hiring a experienced OC could be the difference.
Fobbs needs to have a little bit removed from his plate so he can focus more attention on fewer tasks. Focus on being Head Negro only.

I don't think at this point we (administration, students and alumni) have any advice or more money to give to Fobbs. It is his program and his last chance to show he can get his football team to win games and more than just two or three games.

According to what I've seen he's got two more chances. But regardless of what he does with them he won't have any more after that.

Remember this thread is not about Fobbs; its about our new AD.
Personally, I think Wheeler needs to unveil some sort of major fundraising initiative.
One of the biggest knocks on Dee was that she was unable to present a plan to bring in more dollars - M&M boxes and seasoning sauce campaigns notwithstanding.
Everyone knows we are broke but the question alumni are asking is what are our leaders going to do about it.

BTW: I think anybody that reads this board needs to rally around Wheeler and give him 100 percent of your support.
A lot of people moaned and groaned about Dee Todd but now we have one of our own in the AD office. He is practically an honorary member of the BDF.
If and when he asks for our financial support we need to be ready with checkbook in hand.

I agree with both of your previous posts, Thrilla. I, at first thought the question was in concern what was needed for football. I will agree about fundraising. I also think that there should be an intense review of the whole athletic department by the administration and by outside consultants who know what they are talking about. Once the review is completed, I think a concise plan should be written, ala business plan, with realistic goals and expectations that are in line with funding. Once the plan has been reviewed by the appropriate people it should then be presented to the public inviting the alumni and business partners to come on board to help provide financial support to the athletic department by giving and by helping to open new revenue streams. Let the public know, emphatically, who should be contacted within the university to support the athletic department fundraising efforts. Don't make the public work to find out this kind of info. Also say with a smile that by giving a $200 gift doesn't mean you can run the athletic department but the athletic department will always be open to suggestions.

Wheeler is one of our own, but that is not always what's best for us. He came in with Davis, and served under DT. What part did he play in all of this? Wheeler (Jerry Jones) Brown has alot to do with the current state of Aggie Athletics. DOOMS, he's smiling like that because he has survived and advanced!
