D'Anthony RossGrady High School Ross, a 16 year-old senior, boasts a 3.8 grade point average and has made the honor roll every year .His exceptional GPA combined with a 1370 SAT score have garnered the attention of some of the finest academic institutions in the nation, including Yale, Harvard, Lehigh, Vanderbilt, and Georgia Tech. With several schools already offering him a scholarship, Ross has positioned himself for future success, regardless of his ultimate destination, and he credits Play It Smart with helping him along the way. On the field, Ross has experienced a great deal of success as well. A two-way starting lineman, he earned recognition as the Grey Knightâs best lineman each of the past three years, and he seems likely to claim the award again in 2012. He has averaged more than three pancake blocks each game from his left tackle position this season, and he has accounted for five tackles per game as a defensive end. Having established himself as one of the key players on the team, he has played a significant role in leading Grady o a 6-1 record. Although he has yet to decide on a college, Ross says he is currently leaning toward Yale University, and he plans to play football and major in sports medicine. www.chick-fil-abowl.com/GivingBack/PlayItSmart/StudentAthletes.aspx

He, Prioleau, and Melton are all defensive linemen (ends) and about the same size, 6-4 and in the 240-260 lbs. range.

This has nothing to do with recent recruits but it may have somrthing to do with future recruits. A&T held a high school football combine this past weekend at aggie stadium. There were at least 250 kids that participated in this event. I did not realize that high school kids were so big. There were some good looking football players out there. I know a lot of these kids will end up at bigger programs but A&T is doing a good job of putting it self in a position to potentially recruit some of them to play for us. I hope this is something we will be doing every year.

Looking at the numbers of offensive linemen we have returning and all the newbies and redshirts we will have avaialble, I strongly anticipate Louisburg transfer John Peaks to be a fixture along the defensive line this fall after looking at his tape from JUCO. He can play both inside at tackle or as a rush end. He has adequate size at 6-3, 250 with good lateral movement and foot speed upfield which has been our defensive line's greatest asset under DC Sam Washington. Plus he's a honor student coming out of JUCO so there's little APR risk. John Peaks Highlights: www.hudl.com/athlete/1249230/#athletics

Oh, I see now that he was a defensive linemen at the JUCO he attended.

Coach Rod Broadway has added another defensive lineman to an already stout defense less than a month before camp opens in 6-1 265 pound Da'Shon James from Williamston HS. James is a honor student, is already NCAA cleared and has good speed for an interior lineman at 5.3 in the forty but can also play center and guard on offense as well. When you add someone this late, it often means someone you signed is not eligible
