I'm anxious to see our wing players. I think we need guys who can put the ball on the floor and create thier own shot. In watching Maurice Taylor's hlighlighs it looks like he can possibly handle that role.

From my research it appears all the recruits listed @ 6'7" or taller, are actually 1 -2 inches shorter than advertised.

So true. You also have to make sure you're not reading stats from more than six months ago. Most of the guys are still growing. I was fairly short until my senior year of high school when I hit my growth spurt and didn't stop until I was 20.

"(everybody" adds an inch or two to their listed height, even the major d1's do that.....)
Morgan State's players looked as big as listed... I was the same ht in the 8th grade as I am now... would not depend on a David Robinson growth spurt to ha;ppen to your recruits... Some publications have the 2 big men from Charlotte listed at 6-8...

age is also a good indicator if they have not turned 18 its a good chance they will pick up a few more inches but there is no rule of thumb unless you gone give the kid and x-ray and see if growth plate is still open...... lol

Oh, I've seen articles from 2011 listing them at 6-8 but most of the more recent publications list both at 6-9. Having see Yates stand eye to eye with UNC signee Kennedy Meeks I'd even venture to say he's closer to 6-10.

I personally grew 3 inches in the time between my last high school basketball game to my first day in college.

It's amazing looking back at the euphoria and support 2 years ago after winning a MEAC championship and the NCAA tourney game just like Hampton did this year. Two tough years later....and some of us are ready to be done with the staff already.
I agree with the comments on this thread from NSS and OSA from two years ago. I do believe that Cy still has an eye for talent. There were some misses, I agree... and that eye for talent (and his staff) had to be re-calibrated in some areas because of it. I believe we swung for the fences one too many times and came up short (Michael Reid, Jarin Hilson, Jacob Lawson from Reidsville).
I believe that Sam Hunt and Jamin Lackey represent that eye for talent, but were unavailable last year.
I believe that Deion James and LaMontray Harris represent that eye for talent in 2015.
2015-16 is shaping up to be a big year for this program. I'm looking forward to seeing what National Signing Day and next season brings.

I just hope we get some players..I know Sam is a good piece, but basketball is a team game. Through all of my years of coaching an being around basketball, this much is true. The team who usually has the best players, or the most people that "can play" usually win, with all things being equal.

I hear you on Sam.... but I think you missed the 3 other new AAU-caliber players I just listed who will take the floor for us as well. And let's not forget some of our other returnees, either. We've gotten some of the players and the commitments.... Let's see what April 15th brings.... then we'll go from there.

We got LaMontray Harris's teammate and NY guard Tory Ferguson, a 5-11 PG who ran the show at famed school St. Raymond's (Bronx, NY) before landing at Robinson Prep.
Ferguson will already come as a known talent, and carries a celebrity pedigree, as he is the cousin of rapper A$AP Ferg.
He was selected 2nd team All-Bronx, after averaging 12.3 ppg his last year at St. Raymond's. What's interesting is that he's had only two years of point guard experience and is a shooter.
This is a big step forward to push the pace at A&T, and this kid will get some playing time EARLY.

Maybe someone can give that latest info on two who A&T offered to for this year coming.
1.) Ugur Hortum......6'11 240lbs. JUCO from Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey, IL. Ugur is from Istanbul, Turkey and he is a 2 star recruit who is a great passer for a big man, fundamentally sound, not the most athletic in the world but is a space eater.
2.) Caleb McKearin......6'10 230lbs. PF JUCO from Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, NC. 2 star recruit. Nice shot, plays facing the basket, nice hops.
Does anyone know if they have signed or given a verbal commitment?
