A&T has to be able to win the recruiting battle for Eastern North Carolina. It is absolutely ridiculous that there is no one on A&T's roster from Jacksonville, Wilmington, Goldsboro on this squad.
There were a few students from Jacksonville that wanted to play for A&T and weren't offered scholarships. Two are playing cornerback for Carolina, one is playing running back for UVa., and one walked on at Wake Forest. And these are kids that had ties to A&T...

Being from that part of the state, and having played for West Craven yea its alot of talent in the east. New Bern JH Rose alot of these players end up at ecsu and catawba, when they are D1 caliber players.

It's not just east, it's also the triangle. I hear the same thing from the kids here about A&T. No one has contacted them.
I spoke with a few Durham high school coaches recently and they said the A&T recruiter came by the Friday that A&T played on previous Thursday.
They both said the same thing about the A&T coach. "He asked me did we have anyone worth taking a look at and I gave him a list of D1 prospects. What he did after that I couldn't tell you. "
Maybe that means they will start recruiting in-state more. They had the market locked on I-AA back in the 90s for HBCUs, but with NCCU and WSSU both I-AA now they have to battle harder for the recruits. sheeet, he could ask me about any kid in the triangle and I could tell him yes or no. I deal with them that much. I could tell him which coaches are feeding him sheeet and which ones are honest. I know a lot of diamonds in the ruff as well.
As a matter of fact, who is the recruiter for the Raleigh, Durham, Triangle area. I really need to holla at him. Someone give me an email or number. PM me if you have to.

They also seem to take coaches words for it. Someone TOLD him that this guy(link below) wasn't college material so he left it alone. Check out the QB(#8) at the link below and tell me if he can play in the MEAC or not. Just go in order of games. www.triangleareafootball.com/TeamPage.cfm?TeamName=Garner&Conference=GREATERNEUSEOne thing that I have learned is that some white coaches dont want or care to establish relationships with black colleges. Not to mention that Hampton, Del State and App have shown interest in the guy, but A&T left it alone. How crazy is that?

Surely they have a more targeted recruiting strategy?

I'm not too surprised by this. There are 2 ways to find non-bluechip talent. Maxpreps and Scout.com, but those sites only cover top athletes that put up big numbers at combines(which I dont believe in) and if their numbers are that big they are probably going D1. The second way you find talent is to have someone tell you about it and the only way to do that is to establish relationships with people in the area. That seems to be what they are doing by visiting these coaches while the season is still going on instead of waiting until Winter like they did last season. That should get better the longer the staff is in place at A&T or he should have hired a recruiting guru.
Some coaches have a 3rd way and that's an insider in an area that knows who's hot and who's not. That is sometimes the best thing to have becasue it requires no money for travel to ask this person. I need to ask the coach which A&T coach it was that stopped by. If I remember correctly it I think he said it was the O-line coach.

I don't think we can question our coaches' recruiting strategy too much looking at what they have been able to do in that regard.
Monster, can't you just shoot an e-mail to Coach Fobbs or call the athletic dept.?

During the 90's and early 2000's the majority of our players (good players) were from the east. Now NCCU is getting alot of those players from down east and we all know the reason for that!!!!!! We need a coach that can develop relationships with the H.S. coaches down east. Any suggestions???

Just tell 'em. We have to remember that the coaching staff is only in their second year in the state save one member. How well would one of us recruit Mississippi? I don't know a dang thang about Mississippi and they don't know much about Carolina yet.
I'm sure once Monster talks to them and they start getting inroads things will shift and they'll get a good foothold in in-state recruiting.

Just found out who it was. I'm going to contact him.

www.ncataggies.com/coachfacdir.htmHere's the coaches' directory. Coach Frenchers' ain't on it. Can't blame that on the coaches either. At some point somebody has to get the infrastructure in place so maybe these guys can win a game or two. Sheesh.

he is on the football coaching staff pages, but no contact info was given. www.ncataggies.com/Football/profiles/frenchers_d.htmHe should know the area because he was NCCU recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach from 1992-1999. NCCU was hot garbage during that period, soooooooooo it is a big question mark there. A lot of coaching changes have been made since then so maybe he needs to get re-acclumated. Some of his ex-players from NCCU are now coaching in the PAC6 conference of Durham. He's doing the right things seems like. i'm going to still contact him though and let him know I could be a resource if he needs it. It would then be up to him to use it. I will keep some of the comments he made about the team to myself. If you want to know Dooms just PM me. not all bad comments either for those assuming.

I will say this. Frenchers recruited the majority of the guys on that NCCU undefeated squad. He knows talent. Give him a few years and the talent will be there. He wasn't part of last years recruiting.
