I think he was definitely a change of pace from Fort and did sum thangs that were good for us, created energy, etc. but I think as time went on....................
Oh yeah, one of the best parties I evah attended...........let me just say they knew how to party.
I'm cool with the fact he came, he went and "we are trying to get better" (Broadway)

dooms....appreciate your input but no post that I have read about Renick on here has "dig up crap" on him that I have seen. The man did some good things but he also made some bad decisions. Specifically, without discussing anything else, in regards to him spending that $380,000 inappropriately. That's what he did...... most people are aware already. Anything that ANY person does is fair game, right or wrong, especially public figures!

Fact: $380,000 spent inappropriately from a vending contract with Pepsi that was designated for student scholarships and financial aid that was transferred into a "discretionary" account to pay for leisure such as: big time travel, art work, parties, dranks, dranks, and mo dranks. (as "Red" and Peggy raise their glasses). Aggie2ru it was found that the discretionary money was used for team/band/sga travel during the days when A&T would attend 2 or 3 classics per year. No it didnt go to the proper place but it did help students and didnt just go to a party... The witch hunt was like a hurricane but the truth came out like a light breeze. So many people still believe the hearsay and not the facts. The wrongs were justifiable but wrong nonetheless. I guess

So many people still believe the hearsay and not the facts. The wrongs were justifiable but wrong nonetheless. I guess I hear ya and I'm wid ya. He was lucky when the "suspicious" spending was discovered. As a chancellor you just don't make those kind of mistakes. But I still think a lot of people have been blinded by the glitz, charisma, and energy, along with some good positives, etc. The lowering of admission standards to boost enrollment numbers, the hiring of Re-Todd-----which the consequences of decisions made thereafter has sent us in a hole that we still have not climbed out of, and I could name some other thangs. The most common mis-preception that people are not aware of is the fact that a large amount of state bond money was almost immediately available to him when he sat in the chancellor's chair. I know this for fact. I had to explain to alumni and classmates back during that time that the plans were drawn out initially by Fort but the funds did not becme available until around the time "Red" took office. Also, Fort and others (UNC system officials, politicians, etc.) do not get enough props for what they did to get it on the ballot to be voted on by the public. "Red" fell slam bam into that money drop from the state bonds and it had been a while since "T" was blessed with those type of state bucks. Sota like dooms said he was not a saint nor was he a devil. In my opinion, his leagcy would have been strengthened even more if it weren't for the negatives.

Chancellor Renick was not perfect but he was the best Chancellor we ever had bar none. Chancellor Renick was a real down to earth type of guy. I had a chance to speak to him at an alumni gathering when we played NSU in Norfolk one year. He just stopped by and we just talked about life’s challenges. Definitely didn’t come off as an academic type.

The first time I met Chancellor Rennick was on Freshman move-in day his first year as Chancellor. I was hauling some young coed's boxes into the dorm and I met him coming down the dorm stairway helping another coed move in. From that point, I liked the guy. He was an excellent transition from Dr. Forte! My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
