The capital campaign was headed up by Janice Bryant-Howroyd and Willie Dees. They raised right at 90 million dollors and it was all put to good use and is still being put to good use. If I am not mistaken, I think we were the first HBCU to raise that much during a capital campaign. Correct me if I am wrong. A&T put out a book with all his accomplishments while he was here. I am not sure if it was within the program of the last graduation of his tenure or if it was a book just about his accomplishments. Which ever it was, some will be surprised by all that he accomplished and did for A&T before he left. If you can find one check it out.

Your right Bigboy, A&T is a front runner in capital campaigning among HBCUs. David Hoard is known nationally for bringing in big dollars and not just to HBCUs. A&T has always been known for squeezing the lemon better than alot of other schools
Lets stick to the facts folks.

That's the thing. I don't think anyone would be surprised at his accomplishments. I think that just like the Board, a lot of folks felt they were snowed by the man when in reality, he ain't never lied to none of us nor has he ever taken credit for anything he didn't actually accomplish.
He never said "I built those buildings." He never said "I won those championships." People continually gave him excessive props (like dedicating a five page thread to him) when he never asked for any of it. And then people got mad at him because they gave him the props in the first place.
Wild, but true.

And that's exactly the way he feels Doom. You are right on with what you just stated.

Fact: $380,000 spent inappropriately from a vending contract with Pepsi that was designated for student scholarships and financial aid that was transferred into a "discretionary" account to pay for leisure such as: big time travel, art work, parties, dranks, dranks, and mo dranks. There are plenty of people in this here world who are not officially charged criminally for thangs THAT THERE IS NO EXCUSE for what they have done. Renick is one of them (as "Red" and Peggy raise their glasses).

aggie2ru, whats the purpose of your last post? Stating fact like others have stated facts/opinions in frelation to Renick. That should be fairly obvious even to the untrained eye.

Since my eye is untrained, what source(s) do you have to support the fact you presented?

Since my eye is untrained, what source(s) do you have to support the fact you presented? You have got to be kidding. In 2007, a state audit in the UNC system found the money ($380,000) had been inappropriately spent when it was intended for scholarships and financial aid. That was a major, major, major mistake. Renick was just never criminally indicted.

Yeah, I remember that well. Hel, we discussed it on this site. From what I understand he was absolved of any wrongdoing.
Ultimately (I can't state this one as a fact but it's what I heard and it makes sense) I think he was misadvised on what he could use the money for. The "big time traveling, parties, and dranks" aggie2ru refers to so eloquently consisted of traveling to see, wine, and dine prospective donors, period.
Last I heard, he left the artwork in the Chancellor's office when he left.
Personally, I dislike dishonesty. It's dishonest to pretend like he was a total saint and dishonest to pretend like he was some dam devil. I honestly hate this thread was even started. There had to be a much better use for the picture.
....
What makes Jim so beloved by some and so hated by others is that glittering personality. I mean, practically every college chancellor or president on earth is a bookish, stand-offish nerd. They are supposed to be. You don't get to be a college prez by being cool. But Jim bucked the odds and did it.
Like I said before, he didn't intentionally do anything wrong, so to try to dig up crap on him is far more disingenuous than anything he actually did.
He also ain't walk on water, and wasn't some super-incredible visionary.
He is a good man, period. He will do a great job at Jackson State.
