thanks for making that announcement, kev. it was sorely needed. hopefully we can maintain a certain level of "decency" on this message board. not saying everybody needs to be a choir boy, but there ought to be a line drawn against "explicit" profanity. this message board may not be a direct affiliate of a&t, but it certainly does carry the name of a&t and is a reflection of it's alumni and supporters.
let's keep this board "decent" and let's not tarnish the image of a&t and it's alums...

This is not a democracy. This is a privatley owned, managed, and operated board. We are well within our rights to set our own particpation rules and standards of conduct.

plus, "explicit" profanity could limit or deny access to bdv by the public sector such as hotels, libraries, and also private industry as well. it could penalize those of us who enjoy accessing bdv when we're away from home because public and private organizations often filter out access to certain websites that use explicit profanity...

No profanity may not be needed on this site. However, all of the rhetoric that OSA & Aggie One stated would not hold up in court if someone was put off of this site for using a profane word and they decided to sue BDV.
I can understand your point where you are coming from but don't abuse peoples rights.

wholly cow! are you kidding me! this is a "private" website! not one single one of us have a "right" under constitutional law to use this site. the folk who run this website could shut it down and only allow 2 people to logon if they wanted to!
there are a ton of websites that anybody can be prohibited to use if they don't comply with certain rules. man, what a joke!
good luck to anybody who chooses to sue this website or any other website if they get kicked off for not complying with the rules. any lawyer with common sense would laugh you out of their office if you asked them to take your case...

OSA - I don't know about that. Quit guessing and check it out professionally and then get back to us.
I don't intend to curse but if someone does that is his right. Right or Wrong!
Let us know the deal from a true research OSA from a lawyer. You know you are an authority on every subject that hits this site no matter what it is.
Check with one of your lawyer friends and hit me back. Thanks.

Sometimes we get our rights confused with our privileges , driving is a privilege not a right , your driving privilege can be revoked. We all have the right to vote but that can be taken away if you have a felony. Its been clearly stated this is a "private" site , therefore they can impose whatever conditions they want, and if as you say you don't intend to use profanity, what are you complaining about. The only way to really test your so- called constitutional rights is to use profanity and wait and see what the results are . Good luck !!!!

Thanks. i don't have to check with a lawyer, period. i'm not that dumb. i know " for a fact" that you nor anybody else has a "constitutional right" to post explicit profanity on this nor any other website. i was really hoping that you were kidding about having freedom of speech rights on this or any website, figuring nobody could possibly be that naive. are you sure you have an a&t degree?

BDV website is NO CURSING, it is what it is. I don't know why we don't move on with this topic. If people are not pleased with this need to move on.
