I know the NCAA only allow a school to sign up to 25 players per season. However, you can sign more than 25 if they count to the previous season. So since we did not sign any players last season, can we sign anywhere up to 50 players this spring? Please inform or correct me if my understand is wrong.

Depends on our APR penalties.

I heard from a pretty good source that Broadway kept 14 scholarships in his pocket this season and will get 7 new ones to work with next season.
If we keep the current 33 and add 14 + 7 then I guess that equals 54.
At least that is how they taught math at Westbury High School.

So how many walk-ons from this year will get at least partials and how many seniors are leaving?
Also, does anyone know our APR score for the team from last season?

but thrilla, if broadway kept 14 in his pocket, doesn't that mean he didn't use but 19 of the 33 schollies he had available to him? or, are you saying he actually had 47 schollies available this year, used 33, but kept 14? that would mean we have a maximum of 47 schollies available.
either way, given our apr situation, it doesn't seem likely that we'll have more than about 44 scholarships available next season. so i'm very confused...

It is nothing new for a Coach to hide scholarships. So that he can get the players that he thanks will fit his program. Broadway did not have time to do any recruiting when he came in so I don't blame him for with holding a few scholarships.

My understanding from talking to a member of the advisory faculty athletic commitee this afternoon after church is that we will have 21 scholarships at our disposal for this coming recruiting class for 2012.
That will put us at 54 scholarship players next season and that is not counting in the six graduating seniors that will be leaving after we beat Central this coming Saturday.
So we will be much, much closer to everyone else in the MEAC in terms of numbers next season (ten short of the limit of 63 fulls allowed for FCS schools).
Now we just need to recruit well in the offseason.

The APR is the key. We could end up losing scholarships if we don't focus on that APR for 2011. Next year it moves to 930. I'm not counting anything until I find out what the APR is for this year.

Our last report back in August put us at 927 and from what I understand we received the much need waiver so it should work out since there were some allowable circumstances that the NCAA granted us for in their last review of the football program.
My academic source tells me we should exceed the 930 cut off a year early before the new rule goes into effect when the NCAA returns this spring.
We appear to be on track as we will graduate some little used older reserves in December and many of the new kids and the preferred walk-ons will earn some athletic aid because of their successful class room performances this semester.
