Last year I offered a hundred bucks a victory for the team. I still have all that money in my pocket.
I want to go broke this year.
I'ma do it again. Every victory we get I'm putting 100 bucks in the recruiting fund-raiser pot.
Who's with me?

A word to the wise:
PLEASE be sure that this money goes into a university-authorized "pot" (The NCA&T Foundation, the Aggie Club, the Department of Athletics, etc.) and that every penny gets into that pot. Believe me, the NCAA has a long list of abused "recruiting fund-raiser pots."

aggierattler, If you don't trust this site, you don't have to participate! To even imply what you just did is way out of line! And if Thrilla is not upset I certainly am. You must have learned that at FAMU. Everything about the fundraiser has been open and honest including making the Fobbs aware of it's existence and publishing the names of the contributors and the amounts. The creators and moderators of bluedeathvalley.com are dedicated to A&T Football as evidenced by the "relentless coverage" and hours and hours of time they have invested. BDV has gained inside access to our athletic department and coaches in order to share information with us.

I don't think the issue raised is trust, but accurate reporting and documentation of funds, transaction protocol and transfer to proper channels within the University, and then back checking to ensure the funds were received to the designated department. This site does have a certain level of responsibility and accountability that the University directs the funds according to the wishes of the donors. DOOMS, I'm in.

77, I understand what you're saying and I hope I read it wrong. If AR is simply talking about what happens once the funds get to the university then fine. I agree that there should be a method to assure that the money is actually used for recruiting.
I get excited easily.
P.S. I'm in.

Just so there's no confusion, this is the recruiting fund-raiser pot I was refering to: www.active.com/donate/2007preseasonAll legit, all going straight to the athletic department in the form of a check. Already set up. The days of the "hundred-dollar handshakes" are long gone.

GOOD GOD, MAXWELL!!! Where did I say that this is not above-board??? This has absolutely NOTHING to do with TRUST!!!!! But it has everything to do with ACCOUNTABILITY!!!!! All I am saying is that we have to be SURE that the money is going where it is intended to go...and that's all. One UNINTENTIONAL slip (by this group OR by the University) could land the entire program in hot water, and nobody wants to see that.
I have been working in college and professional sports since I finished at A&T in 1981, and I have seen (or heard about) it all.

I understand your point but it is a cautious mindset rather than an ambitious one. The kind of mindset that freezes folk from taking any action(as it has for some). And it is about trust. If you trusted the process, we wouldn't be talking about this and maybe that comes with time. We should be talking about how the dollars can help Fobbs bolster his D-Line not how "we must be careful about this and careful about that". Sometimes being careful for "us" means nothing happens. Again I understand your concern but I don't agree with its placement in this thread. So, are you in or not? ;D

One more year in law school, but with the internship, I say 10 bucks a win from me!

That's the spirit!
I talked with the supreme leader last night and I don't think we can actually do the current recruiting fundraiser since it's a preseason fundraiser. But we'll look to start another one once the season is started and go from there so save your money!

Just a suggestion. Bigboy posted how the railings at Aggie Stadium needed to be painted. Could that be a possible project? We could show up after the season and before the spring game with paint supplies and BDF family and friends as cheap labor.
Kinda like how the student booster club in Rudy would paint the helmets before every ND game.

I think that would be great. We would have to talk to facilities to figure out the logistics.

I'd like to learn how to paint the white lines on the field. I'd volunteer to do that.
