IF we only have Six players> Then we go with the Six. Do we have any other choice. I no I would not dump the season and I no the players wouldn't wont that to happen. So let them play.

Having only 6 players is deliberate and it is not the former coach's fault. I don't know the reason(s) behind this move but if I was the MEAC Commissioner, I would reprimand A&T if they forfeit a conference game. Again, having only 6 players at the start of the season is a voluntary move by A&T.
I understand A&T is looking to have walk-ons in a few weeks and I guess for A&T, it takes time for the walk-ons get their health physical plus the sickle-cell test if they are of African decent.

health physicals shouldn't take very long at all, but i'm not sure about sickle cell tests. in my opinion, if ya know before the school year starts that you're gonna be short of players, you take measures to remedy that problem "before" the season starts. fielding a 6 player team is not a remedy in my opinion.
i have no doubt that we can do better than this. i find it hard to believe that the best we can do is show up to a tournament (on the road, mind you) and cancel games because we don't have enough players. am i the only one who could see the possibility of that happening? couldn't this have been avoided? i think so...

I told yall this mess was crazy.
Earl Hilton needs to mandate that the coach adds 4 students-athletes to the team by the end of this week.
There is NO reason why we should be down to 5 players at this point. No reason whatsoever.
There are enough girls on campus who would glady join the team as walk-ons just so they can tell their friends and family that they are college athletes.
Either the new coach find four girls who can join this team by Friday or he needs to hand in his resignation. Bottom line.
He is embarrassing this university far more than he realizes by carrying on with this six-player lunacy.

Please stop blaming the coach because, he has had tryouts already. They are waiting on the sickle cell test results to get back. He even has a player coming back that played under the coach before the last coach. He was hired the week before classes started and has two players from last years team that is ineligible for season. Also the 6'4 girl from DC that was hurt all last year was not eligible and transferred to Hartford University.

How about if you provided funding for the program, we wouldn't be in this mess.
I personally think if we would have hired Arlene , we wouldn't either but hey just my opinion

(How about if you provided funding for the program, we wouldn't be in this mess. ) Why do you say the program is not funded? Wouldn't anyone who joined the program have to be cleared by the clearinghouse? How long does that take?

The new coach has just two more days to add at least 4 more players to the roster or I will stop by his office and personally ask for his resignation.
The clock is ticking.

Those canceled games were on last Saturday. They have been playing with only 6 players since the beginning. Since you wasn’t aware, I guess that makes you exempt from not posting about volleyball

I just hope that they are able to complete the required number of games for volleyball to count as an NCAA sponsored sport for this year. I don't recall the minimum number of games that have to be played, hopefully that won't be a problem.

4XL, in your opinion, how did this situation happen?
As fans, should we be irate about this .... or was this simply unavoidable?

4XL, in your opinion, how did this situation happen? As fans, should we be irate about this .... or was this simply unavoidable? The delay in naming a new head coach for whatever reason is probably the blame for this. If you hire someone mid- july, early august, its almost impossible to have a handle on this. How many girls decided to not come back when the assistant coach wasn't given the job? Natural attrition from not meeting eligibility requirements? I think there were only 10 or 11 girls on last years team to begin with. Walk-on tryouts might not be the answer, not everyone wants to be a college athlete. If you give a walk-on books, they become a scholarship athlete, count against APR, etc.. Upon letting Coach Conway go, this position needed to be on the fast track in terms of being filled, but in the grand scheme of things, other issues were of greater priority. Blame it on the structure I guess.
