Renick was thrown a life line, good for him. What exactly does a "senior executive assistant for special initiatives" do?
David Hoard, what’s his story since he left A&T? I wish somebody would create a position for me.
It's time we get JSU on the schedule for a Home & Home. Of course they have to come to G'boro first.

Hoard started his own consulting firm after he left A&T. He has done work on a bunch of campuses in the south east, HBCUs and PWIs. www.eacwebservices.com/dwhoardassociates/home.htmlIts gonna be interesting seeing things take shape over there. And I definitely see us playing Jackson State in a classic down the line.

I just have a brief comment to say about the announcements that Carolyn Myers made. First of all, "Big Red" Renick fell into "T" at a very good time. Just before he got here, NC voters had approved for MASSIVE (more than any has been allocated in recent times) funds to be shared with schools in the UNC system. In essence, schools had unprecedented BIG BUCKS for infrastructure, etc. True dat, "Big Red" had Hoard shaking da bushes for additional funds also and "Red" was a big sports man. However, he was LUCKY he was not charged with "stealing" almost 1/2 million duckets (dollars) that was taken from student financial aid that ENDED up in HIS discretionary fund. You know, the fund that HE discretionarily spend the way HE wanted to!!!! This is ONE of the reasons why he will never be TOP DOGG anywhere else. He will always land on his feet and he and Carolyn are running DOGGS.

Correction: Renick arrived in 1999 and the higher education bond referendum was approved in November 2000.

Yup, but the plans for all the improvements were in place in the early to mid-90s. We were just waiting on the money.

Disagree Dooms!
If you look at a listing of bond projects and non-bond projects, Renick made the difference.

But Gator, my best friend worked for Chancellor Fort while we were students back from '94-'96 in acquisitions. He told me about every last building and all the property A&T was poised to buy, in 1995. At that time nobody at A&T had even heard of Renick. In fact, if you ask Renick to his face he will not take credit for it, because he knows it was in motion before he got there. In 1999 when I met him, he was lobbying for voters to approve the bond measure because the plans were already in place.
On the other hand, I guess I don't know what you mean by "Renick made the difference." Depending on what that means, you might be right. If you mean he lobbied voters to get the measure pass, you're right.
What I meant was that the plans were already in place prior to his arrival.

Thnxs for the correction Captaggie!!! It all fell in place for "Big Red". The passage of the state bond referendum made it"rain" on our school. "Red" and Hoard did some good things when they were here but "Red" stated from jump that he would not be here but 5 years and as we ALL know towards the end it was like they say, "I gots to get me-me"

Aggie2ru, you must have forgotten that that whole situation was investigated by the SBI and they found no wrong doing against Renick. The money that they clamied was mis-used was vending money from Pepsi. Pepsi gave Renick the okay to use that money at his own discretion as long as it benefited the students. The vast majority of that money was spent on scholarships. If I am not mistaken, everybody named in those scandals (News & Record Scandals) at that time were all cleared of wrong doings.
