Littlejohn declared for Gardner Webb last Saturday after visiting but will be coming here for a look see next week despite his verbal so we still are in the mix on him. He's waiting on his college board scores.
Broadway also has a solid verbal commitment from Brown's teammate defensive end Jake Scott also from Calhoun County HS (6-3,250). Another big offensive lineman also from Greenville, SC named Javonte Stewart (6-4 1/2, 300) has also recently given Broadway a verbal as well.
All three of these verbals have qualified on their college boards so its shaping up very well just three weeks out from the national signing date. They are exactly what we are desperate need of, more size and depth up front.
Linemen along with a solid number two QB to back Kindle, a couple of strong running back prospects and help in the kicking game are his absolute top priorities.
Hopefully, they all those verbals will follow through with their early decision and sign on the dotted line the first of the month.

There is no need for a signing day party because Broadway typically does not like to release the names of his recruits until the start of camp. Interesting

Six of his Hillside teammates already have made college decisions: quarterback Collyn Anderson (Gardner-Webb), lineman Casey Perry (Gardner-Webb), cornerback Aaron Krah (Appalachian State), linebacker Anthony Mangum (N.C. A&T), defensive lineman Lamonte Melvin (Fayetteville State) and linebacker Lee Williams (Fayetteville State). Hornets center Daniel Jordan is expected to pick either North Carolina A&T or UNC Charlotte. Read more here: www.newsobserver.com/2012/01/22/1796737/ncs-strong-football-recruiting.html#storylink=cpy

I wonder if we have anything coming from Southern High School....since A.J. is the head coach and he used to be on Broadway's staff at NCCU.

It's good to see my Hillside Hornets still want to come to A&T to play football. I hope Daniel Jordan commits to us. He was starting on the OL when HHS won the 2010 State Championship. Plus he can come in and be an effective Center since fellow Hillside Alum Brent Walker's eligibility is now up

We can land Durham kids all day every day if we want to. Those kids are basically home bodies, but not so much that they want to stay at NCCU in Durham. Outside of going to a FBS school, A&T would normally be their first option. That or App. Boone is a big bummer for Durham kids, so not sure they are even ahead of us. Glad we are back to recruiting them.
We always kept a few on the team when Hayes was here. Lee, Fobbs, and Smalls, not so much.
On another note. UNCC will definitely put a dent in hometown recruiting.

You make some good points Monster.. and I have also been wondering how Unc Charlotte's new football team will play out with the recruiting landscape

UNC charlotte will be interesting. They have NCCU and Coastal on their schedule in 2013(their opening season). They start playing JCSU in 2014(their WSSU, LOL). Got a 15,000 seat stadium(expandable to 40,000, but doubt that would ever happen.).
They will be a major player for NC recruits in a couple of years.

AJ McMinn 6-3, 220-poundHendersonville High football standout AJ McMinn confirmed Saturday that he has verbally committed to play football for Division I program North Carolina A&T State University. McMinn's father, the Rev. Anthony McMinn, said that the Aggies offered his son a full ride, and that AJ felt it was the best fit for him. In his senior year at HHS, the multi-sport athlete helped boost the Bearcat football team to a 10-3 overall finish and a co-championship in the Western Highlands Conference. The 6-3, 220-pound fullback and linebacker was an all-conference selection, totaled 95 rushes for 645 yards and 11 touchdowns as well as four receptions for 36 yards on offense this past season. Defensively he added 60 tackles, two sacks, five fumble recoveries, two pass break-ups and a touchdown. www.blueridgenow.com/article/20120121/ARTICLES/120129947/1008/sports?Title=HHS-football-standout-McMinn-commits-to-NC-A-T

That's a legit FCS prospect right there! Good job staff. 5 tackles a game AND played offense on a 10-3 football team. Dad being a Rev is a plus also.
"He chose NC A&T over Western Carolina, Mars Hill College, UNC Pembroke, Coastal Carolina and UNC Charlotte. " That's a good victory over CC, Western, and UNCC.

I pray that all these kids get into A&T and qualify. Need an infusion of new talent and scholars in our football program

McGinn was the top prospect in the Asheville area all year long. Broadway stolehimself a big time impact player. We tried to recruit kids from Hendersonville before but never got one even look our way before though they are always one of the best western mountain programs up there.
Now if he can get DE Josh Wineberg from Ashe County to commit to offset the loss of Jake Scott to SCSU, we'll be better defensively than we were a year ago.
Like I said before, give Broadway 14-15 quality (good grades being a big part) athletes in the right places over 25 average ones like most other MEAC schools and we'll be just fine next season.
