i think a full ride is enticing. they're probably not getting the "top" fcs athletes yet, nor did odu at first. because most do want to play right away, especially your top players. don't know what kind of football facilities charlotte has or has planned to build, but i think odu began to pickup high caliber players once they started playing ball games and had all of those spanking brand new facilities in place to show recruits... UNCC will have a top notch football facilities from day one. Last I heard they had raised millions to help pay for the $40.5 million statium they started building last April. As of late 2011 they had only reported 2,300 PSL's sold but I'm sure that will jump when the stadium is finished this year in July. UNCC will grab a lot of corporate dollars and buzz when they start playing football next year. I don't know if the team will be any good but initially they will have lots of money for scholarships, to recruit and buy stuff. The response from the greater Charlotte community has been very disappointing to UNCC so far. Naysayers have already started with the "told ya so" talk. Make no mistake, they are nowhere close to ODU's support at this point in their development.

yeah, it doesn't make sense to make contact during the offseason, especially guys who are rehabbing. but i'm talking about during the preseason and regular season practices. i know in basketball, we use blocking dummies during some of our layup drills to simulate contact when going to the basket. a similar drill could probably be used for catching passes in traffic with contact. not quite the same as real live hits, but its better than no contact at all. i asked you because i thought maybe you had been to some coaching clinics or something like that where they may have taught some drills for that. i haven't played contact football since high school and i've never coached the sport. so i just thought thru your experiences you may have run across some drills designed to prepare receivers how to absorb contact upon catching passes. i'm sure there's some drills that can be used that'll help, but i doubt if any of them can simulate real game situations. oh well, guess we've beat this subject to death. time to move on... OSA and Monster you both are saying the samething and right.!! It just boils down to finding a reciver that has no fear! I played running back also and the funny thing I could catch over the middle coming out of the back field but put me in the slot are wide and I'm thinking to much..lol Groom use to have them hit us even if we missed the pass are droped it. But ones I got the timeing down and could us my speed and the ball was right on point it was not a problem because I made the catch running. It's the high ones that make a reciver hate their QB because he hangs you out..lol

Rattlers Sign Early Class Of Football For 2014 Release: Wednesday 12/18/2013 (ET) by Florida A&M Sports Information More Sharing ServicesShare | Share on myspaceShare on googleShare on facebookShare on twitter
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Dec.18) – Coach Earl Holmes and staff today announced early period signing of some junior college, transfer and prep school athletes for the 2014 football season. The following recruits represent the early signing class of 2014: Patrick Dalton (6’6”, 340 lbs.) Fayetteville, Ga. – OL, Whitewater High School. Dalton is an impressive addition to the Rattler offensive line. He was recruited by Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Clemson and Tennessee. He is considered a behemoth lineman, who could develop into a prototype of a guard. For his size, he is reported to have quick feet and extremely strong hands. He has athletic legs and a massive upper body. His lengthy wingspan is important because when he latches on to a defender, he can render them useless. Keir Abrams (5’11, 240 lbs.) Berkeley, California – FB, Berkeley High School. Abrams is a solid lead blocker and capable of getting tough yards. He also has soft hands and is able to make receptions out of the backfield. He went to Costa Contra College in San Pablo, California. Shazzon Mumphrey (6’4”, 230 lbs.), Louisville, Kentucky – QB, Monroe College. Mumphrey is an athletic quarterback, who excels in a pro-style athlete who threw for over 1,600 yards and 16 touchdowns last season. He runs a 4.5, 40-yard dash. He is a solid athlete benching 335 lbs., and squatting 475 lbs. Brian Blackburn (6’6”, 225 lbs.), Detroit, Michigan – QB, He was ranked the No.25 ranked player in the state of Michigan and was ranked three star by 247.com and Scout.com. Out of high school, he went 134-for-219 for 61-percent with 2,234 yards and 20 touchdowns. Mateo Kambui (6’3”, 288 lbs.) Wichita, Kansas – OC, Heights High School. Helped Butler Community College to a 9-2 record last season. He made first team All-KJCCC this past season at center. Kendall Bruton (5’11, 185 lbs.) Long Island, New York - DB, Nassau Community College. Bruton is a solid run-stopper as well as pass defender. He had 20 tackles, 11 pass break-ups and two interceptions, both returned for touchdowns last season. Samir Burns (6’2”, 295 lbs.) Linden, NJ – NG/DT, Monroe College. Burns earned Player of the Week Oct. 8, for his defensive performance. He had 60 tackles on the season, with 31 solos and 29 assists. He had three sacks and finished fourth in the conference in tackles. Antoine Pickett (6’0”, 190 lbs.) Concord, California – RB/LB/DB, Contra Costa College. Pickett was ranked the No.2 defensive back in California by MaxPreps. He runs a 4.5 - 40 yard dash and has a 25” vertical leap. A.J. Lidell (6’3”, 200 lbs.) Atlanta, Georgia – WR, Atlanta Prep. ESPN rated Lidell as the No.49 player in the state. He was also three-star ranked by ESPN. Originally out of West Lake HS, he had several offers out of high school. While he plays wide receiver, he is also solide as a punt and kick returner. Matt Tiedermann (6’1”, 310 lbs.) Ephraim, Utah – OL, Snow College. Tiedermann is an agile offensive lineman who could bolster the interior offensive line. With quick feet and great arm strength, Tiedermann was a teammate of Rattler receiver Casey Glines. Ron Harris (6’3”, 220 lbs.) Raleigh, NC – LB, Jireh Prep. All-Conference in high school at Leesbille Road High School. Harris is known as a solid tackler, while having good coverage skills when he drops back. He has excellent lateral movement inside a solid frame.

Not one player from the state of Florida? I know it's an early signing class so there wouldn't be any high schoolers on it, but you're sitting in the state of Florida.

Holmes won't be around come next Christmas if he has another season like he did last year. A FAMU grad and booster who is in the office here says the better local kids have become pretty sour on FAMU as far athletics, especially football when Joe Taylor and Hayes were came in and didn't do much to endear themselves to the high schools in the Panhandle.
They went the transfer route and schools like UCF, USF, FAU and FIU and to a lesser extent bigger schools in Georgia get most of the players that Florida, FSU, and Miami don;t get. Alabama gets everything else. that was once FAMU's bread and butter.
BCU does okay in their part of the state but they aren't filling their roster up from Florids like they used to..
