What are the plans and schedule for the guys this summer ? Are the coaches working the team out, as Ive been informed that the new strength coach has resigned.....We need some longevity and continuity in this program, as far as S&C is concerened. We've been through 5 strength coaches in 3 years and it shows when we line up against other teams in the conference who can keep coaches around.

After the miserable season that we had last year, I would assume or maybe I should say hope that the players were embarrassed enough to be self motivated to work out on their own this summer, strenght coach or not. I don't think they want to experience a repeat of last season. I know that I don't!!

Utterly Ridiculous. This one falls directly on Fobbs.
I don't care what the situation is ... if you go through 3 different S&C coaches in your first year on the job you are doing something terribly wrong.
Once again, we are back to square one.

Maybe it's time to go in a new direction with recruiting for the position?

This one falls directly on Fobbs. WRONG!! Fobbs can't MAKE anyone stay at A&T......
The guy made up his own mind.... stay at A&T or go to UNC...!

Fobbs should not be hiring all these clowns if they are going to keep leaving him high and dry after only a few months. This is exactly what the last guy did who didn't even start working until the end of the 2006 season.
Bottom line: Fobbs has got to start showing better judgement and decision-making in his hiring practices. That's part of his job responsbility as a head coach and why he makes the big bucks.
Didn't he have to turn around and fire his original defensive coordinator after only three games last year? That shows a serious flaw is his hiring skills when you have that much turnover.

I agree.. you are totally off base thinking this is on Fobbs. What is he supposed to do? Ask the people when he interviews them if they want to stay at A&T for 15 years? Well hell if they answer yes then you definately dont want that person either. Youre supposed to hire people who have aspirations of bettering themselves personally and professionally. If the strength coach sees unc as a better opportunity for his career and his family's well being then you discontented negros should be happy that the brother is moving on to bigger and better ( because carolina is bigger and better regardless of the matching of money offer)..and understand that these are EXACTLY the type of people that you should be hiring.. People that are good enough to be pulled away by the big schools... but i guess we would be satisfied with a less than stellar person with less than stellar credentials so that we can keep them here for a long time.. hmmmm.. the crabs in a barrell mentality... Its unfortunate that we lost him after such a short time but crap happens and we have to move on... hes obviously good at what he does and we might not like it.. but it aint our call...

If a significant number of players were going to be around then this would be an issue. But with only potential academic casualties, the few that live in the area and those on their personal nickel around for the summer what difference does it make (what is that total number 20% of the team)? Real issue is continuity.

uhhh fyi.. before you take that what difference does it make angle.. from what I hear ... the majority of the team WILL be back for second session. SO it is important and it is vital to the success on the field. so it does make a difference

This lastest fiasco just sheds light on a greater problem. I understand if one of your coaches leaves for a better job. That is just the nature of the business. But when you are asked to rebuild a football program from the ground up and you show an inability to keep a S&C coach on staff ... well then that shows a major flaw with your own hiring/rentention practices.
This most recent resignation is compounded by the fact Fobbs made a horrible decision early last season when he hired the previous S&C coach and allowed him to report to work 4 months late.
That is mainly why he is in the pickle he is in now.

AAAANNN youre still totally off base. Fobbs was not involved in the decision that the strength coach made to leave. How is it that you can form your mind to think that he is responsible for him leaving. What would you have done.. ? Maybe thats a better question.. because obviously you think fobbs is incapable of managing the business of aggie football.. what would the cyber coach do?

I see both sides.
It's not Fobbs' fault the dude left for Carolina. Very few people would choose A&T over Carolina.
That being said Fobbs' choices for some key staff positions are, well, terrible. Lavigne immediately comes to mind.
I don't know if it's Fobbs job to hire the S&C coach. If it is, why is it? The S&C coach should affect all the athletics programs not just football. Is Fobbs hiring assistant basketball coaches too? Dee Todd should be making that hire.
Side point: Fobbs was asked to rebuild the football program from the ground up?!? That explains everything.
