In the SGA President run-off election of Wednesday, April 11, 2007. David Street - 492 votes - 50.15% Curtis Walls - 489 votes - 49.84%
CRAZY RIGHT! Street is very politically minded but this definitely has to hurt Curt because he was up over 20% in the original election

There's got to be a re-count. That is too close for comfort!

Less than 1000 votes Hell, does anybody on campus really care? There should at least been 5,000 votes. How many people vote for Miss A&T?

Maybe 1200 and Curt had like 564 votes (he needed 600 though)... We've never had more than 1/3 of the student population vote so the goal this year was 3000 but we all know that's not realistic

Where have you folks been If a great number of the students don't care a whole lot about classes, what makes you think an election will excite them. They can't put down their cell phones long enough to cast a ballot.

No SGA doesn't make an impact (per se), thats why WE don't vote. If SGA affected my DAY-TO-DAY at school, I would care more

Come on Mike...SGA is here for the students, but the problem is the students dont know how to use thier resources. We complain about alot of stuff but to the wrong people. It is very rare that a student actually takes a qualm they have with the university to anybody other than thier roommate. And as far as voting goes. If you cant get 1/3 of the country to vote on a national election what would make a school election any different?

It's a sign of the times of general social indifference. The SGA was an awfully powerful force when I was in school during the mid 70's and students did make an impact. Seems like students these days aren't motivated by political issues anymore but more about acquiring a higher standard of living.

You are right Aggie One, back then just about everyone on campus took these elections very seriously. It was considered a big deal.

I think what we have is that folks in my generation (born in 1979) and younger view politics with an eye of skepticism. With all of the mudslinging and our "leaders" having their names tarnished by their own idiotic activities ("I did not have sexual relations . . . " & J J having a child young enough to be his Grandchild - out of wedlock), the political game is not as appealing as it once was. Maybe with all of the Don Imus, Duke Lacrosse, Pacman and his Rain Dance / Hail of Gunfire and other national media items, social activism will become more prominent in my generation and the one right behind us.

I attended during the mid-70s also and our SGA was the bomb back then. They would host nationally known artists on campus for $2-3. Because of their energy and work it compelled us to be active in school acitivities......

Pretty much in the 80's, SGA got big respect for the things they did, including "AGGIEFEST" the 1st one at "AGGIE STADIUM"
Pretty good SGA PRESIDENT'S at NCA&TSU!
