Aggies added some exciting new players to offense
GREENSBORO, March 28, 2007 – The North Carolina A&T football program is inviting all Aggies and the surrounding community to the 2007 Blue-Gold Scrimmage to held at Aggie Stadium, Saturday, March 31 at 1 p.m. Admission is free. The scrimmage concludes 2 ½ weeks of spring practice the Aggies football program has conducted between March 12-31. There will be other events surrounding the scrimmage such as the N.C. A&T football alumni weekend, which includes a golf tournament. Visit www.ncataggies.com for more information. The format will not be a conventional intra-squad scrimmage where the N.C. A&T football coaches will split the squad in half to have what would be a true football game with punting, kicking and rotation of offense and defense. Instead, it will be the Aggies offensive players against the Aggies defensive players. Coaches have set up a point system for the defense so they can possibly claim a victory over their offensive teammates. The defense will be giving one point for keeping the offense out of the end zone. Two points will be given for not allowing the offense to produce a first down. If the defense forces a turnover, they will be given three points. The Aggies ‘D’ will receive the conventional six points for returning a fumble or interception for a touchdown in addition to the three points for forcing the turnover. “We think the best away to avoid injury is to have it offense versus defense instead of splitting the teams in two where both teams have an offense and a defense,’’ said head coach Lee Fobbs. “We simply want to see if what we’ve worked on during the Spring has taken hold, and we want to see organization and discipline out there.” Among the returners Aggie fans will see is running back Michael Ferguson, who led the Aggies in ruhing, and Wayne Campbell who broke freshman records for pass attempts and yardage in a season.
