Say it Aint So Thrilla, Say it Aint So? I was hoping that if anybody was gonna get a win this weekend it would be the BGMM...I guess that new arranger from southern is really paying dividends down in "U'rngburg." Hopefully it wont take too long for folks to get the clips uploaded to Youtube That arranger is a legend Cornell Knighten that was at Southern for years and a FAMU grad. He actually applied for the A&T job when Doc retired.

^^^ SU and a FAMU grad dang dude got credentials. But I'm hearing via twitter that yes it wasn't to good for the machine that was until spirit mixes. Bgmm has pissed the 101 fans off because they played scsu sig song pass the peas. Also there was a special guest rico barrino performed with the bgmm!

SCSU's playlist was light years better than ours last night. Even their tubas came with the heat.
But like I said GD and CS gave A&T fans something to feel proud about.
Champagne didn't even try to compete against GD; they just did a few moves and high-tailed it back to their seats. GD came out with a damn mini-movie and snakes and genie costumes.
Cold Steel showed again why they are the No. 1 drum line in the Western Hemisphere. They had kids doing flips and walking on drums ... and I even think I saw a midget jumping on a trampoline. It was a three-ring circus out there.
I wanted to stay for the spirit mixes but I had my 3-year-old son with me and by then the brawl had already been going on for damn near 8 hours.

I was in attendance as well and I agree with what Bornthrilla said. It was not good for the machine outside of Golden Delight and Cold Steel. SCSU sectional fanfares put the machine away. I think the machine had better musical selections but SCSU execution was better. Neither band player with any feeling they were just playing the notes. SCSU was the attacker and the machine was always in defense mode. There were a couple of times were SCSU got ignorant and played out of turn and the machine would play back the same song. Where the machine messed up at was they played songs that the whole band clearly didnt know. Even when it came to the spirit mixes SCSU made their point and that was it. The machine's spirit mix was long and only 1/4 of the crowd knew it was Rico Barrino performing with them. The machine has to do better if they want to continue with these band brawls. Good effort though and better luck next season. I hope Ruff really makes a huge effort this off season to help bring respectability back to the band program.

Dang Thrilla...from the clips and my eyewitness accounts, you left right before All hell broke loose inside of Corbett... A&T and the 101 had a pass the peas battle, (a 101 signature song) and as predicted it got ratchet...but at a gym battle, that's a good thing...
The sectional battles , blah, they are more for the band members...gimme more full band selections...GD and CS held their own Showed out...I liked our spirit mix, but Ricco should have stayed home, or warmed up them vocals first...
on a sidenote; it was good to see larger numbers of spectators in the stands, than previous battles, i hope attendance can continue to grow and hopefully one year, have the entire upper level of Corbett packed...

I agree Getup a gym battle with the rsos or sound machine would sale out. There were a lot of rsos members at the battle and they were talking so much junk about the machine. I am sure they could hold their own against the machine.

I kinda agree only because a battle between close rivals Winston or Central has the potential of having NSU-VSU battle numbers...Echols is packed to the brim when they battle...the only down side is that 1. its not certain that we will play WSSU in football in the future, but that depends on the direction of our new AD 2. NCCU is a rather "conservative" band program...and idk if i can see Reid signing on for something like this...at least not in the near future, but if he did, creating a Band Brawl-Florida-Bayou Classic Hybrid Battle setting would be awesome

I am sure they could hold their own against the machine. I have never seen WSSU in a gym battle environment it would be interesting to see especially with all that booing they were doing. They might hold their own but Aggie fans might go Nsu fans on them, second thought wevarent that classless and rude, aggie fans just throw stuff at people (now that was a crazy game). But yea I don't see NCCU doing it, but it's great to dream. SN: am I the only one that noticed a whole lot of GD moves from champagne. I mean from the routine to the stand dances. I bet they bought the GD instructional dvd.

Yes they were doing a lot of booing lol. Yea we are not classless because we would have got ignorant against SCSU the other night.
LOL champagne was good and terrible during the dance feature at the battle. They threw a girl about 2 inches in the air and almost still dropped her. They were not together at all.

The Band is a serious threat. I think they are bottle necked in regards to leadership. Sounds like some fresh air may be needed. I can see GD and CS improvements from year to year regardless of size. Almost makes you wonder.
