I honestly didn't think we were going to win. This was A&T's first year in co-ed division (3 or more males) in awhile and FAMU & SCSU did outstanding. Everyone knew FAMU had won, but according to judges, they placed 2nd co-ed and 3rd overall. FAMU was crying their eyes out and no one from their squad wanted to get up to receive their trophies. But Aggies did a great job as usual.

And for us to be 4 times defending champs and to be 20-25 minute drive from Joel Coliseum, there weren't as many Aggies there as I expected. Morgan, Hampton, and FAMU had just as many fans there as A&T.

Great Job Aggies. I agree with Brand, this was too early in the week. However lets keep the show rolling this week.

I'm just getting home from Winston and I must say...That our squad did a wonderful job. Congrats on your fourth consecutive Cheerleading Championship...now lets go for 5 ;D
NC A&T AGGIES: The A&T Cheerleaders started off the team competition. The reigning MEAC champions came into the competition with a HUGE target on their backs...every team was gunning for them and wanted to known as the squad that brought down the cheerleading powerhouse. The Agges seemed to not be phased as they dedicated the show to their "haters" using such songs a Mariah's "Obsessed," Shawty Lo's "Dey Know," and Nas' "Hate Me Now." The aggies managed to have a relatively clean routine and once again calling their shot, letting everyone in the Joel know that they were on a mission for that 4th title...
MSU BEARS: All I can say is that the bears are back...after a string of unsuccessful attempts, they are finally back on the road to becoming a force in this conference. They gave an exciting routine, used the entire floor well..and left everything on the mat.
WSSU RAMS: After a string of second place finishes to A&T, I actually had them picked as finally getting that allusive championship. unfortunately, the judges didnt see that...with a step out of bounds and some small technical errors, the Rams leave the MEAC with no team titles.
NSU SPARTANS: I Liked the spartans routine, but they relied too much on a single person to do all of their complex tumbling for them...thats really the only negative that i can say.
SCSU BULLDOGS: Overall, the bulldogs did a good job. I did enjoy the ABDC style dance moves they incorporate but they were not able to recover from some major mistakes in the routine.
UMES HAWKS: This year's routine was better than those of past ones. they had lots of energy, but it just wasn't fully clicking tonight for them.
HAMPTON PIRATES: Honestly, i was surprised that they were competing, after years of being missing from the competition scene, but none the less did a good job.
FAMU RATTLERS: Like i said on the Onnidan, FAMU was going to give A&T the best run for their money in the Coed division; especially after last years competition leaving such a bad taste in the Rattler's mouths. The rattlers indeed came to compete and had a great routine but for them it was the small mistakes that really did them in...You could tell that once again the rattlers were less than thrilled with the results
FAMU and Morgan had great routines...but the overall placements left a bitter taste in the Rattler's mouths yet again...and you could see (and hear) they were less than pleased to earn 3rd place overall...In my own opinion, The rattlers left it all on the mat and definitely were a crowd favorite. The bears also had a high energy routine, but may have been just a little cleaner which may have given them the edge
Sidenote: There is something seriously wrong that that UMES Hawk Mascot....like SERIOUSLY!
Overall, a good showing by the squads..."Commissioner" Thomas was there to hand out trophies and yes, if you heard someone yell out "Boo, Boo nucca Boo!" in the crowd...IT WAS ME (I told y'all i didn't like him) I think that moving this competition to Monday was a mistake and that it should have been on championship Saturday...adding to the excitement of the last day of the tourney

Good looking out 'Blues. Nice report. I wonder if there are any Seniors on this team that won 4 straight? In any case, this is a great run by the Aggies.
