For the record, Final A&t 87- SCSU 69. Three things: > Look out WSSU in the 'boro Monday. BTW, I know that that Winston trap is coming. > We hit the boards! > Does anyone wants to face A&T @ the MEAC when our Big Men wake up?
Jeff AggieFan said on the Hampton thread, that we may be catching SCSU at the right time. He was right. A&T took it to them last night. SCSU tied it up and we, for a change, went on a run!
Good win Aggies

BTW is Porter growing into being an enforcer? Our Bigs were going after the shots again last night.

the guys went on a run last year in february, ignited by an upset win at the buzzer against guess who? hampton! could this be deja' vu all over again? I wish they would start their run in December and no later than mid January. We won last night against an outmanned (smallish) SCSU team. The first few minutes set the tone, but that quickly changed when Eaves made his substitutions. The second half illuminated A&T's superiority. One wonders how SCSU beat Morgan. That's a real mystery. Unless Morgan is .....................

its kinda hard to explain, but sometimes teams have an entirely different personality based on who they play. scsu was extra motivated to beat morgan because they had them on the ropes in their first matchup this season and let it slip away. add to that, morgan was the team to beat in the meac with an undefeated record while scsu was in 2nd place and the game was being televised. i think that gave scsu extra motivation.
then, when they played us, they had a letdown. even though we beat them in the first matchup, they were probably thinking it would be an easy win over us considering how our season has gone.
teams just don't play with the same level of intensity against everybody. i also sensed that our guys are now playing with a greater sense of urgency since the season is almost over. i think they're trying to position themselves for a better seed at the tournament because based on the current standings they'd have to play in the first round if the season ended today...

A&T matches well with DSU, and SCSU. Howard is the only team that I don't want to play in the tourney I am going on record that A&T will beat Morgan in the quarterfinals MEAC tourney if the bracket are setup like that. Two major reasons why.
#1) I think Morgan will come in a little flat and not too excited to play in the quarters #2) I think A&T is starting to hit 3's plus a game under their belt in the tourney would work.
There is still an outside chance that A&T could move up to #2 in the MEAC standings at the end of year, but A&T has to win out.

First off, the Web streaming is great. We need to keep this and have it grow.
Sixties, that outmanned team, impression was on me also against Howard I believe, and a few teams against us. If we put in Coleman, Porter & Upchurch in together, wow. I even saw Coleman run a fast break from a half-court steal. I said pls dont turn it over'.
On another note I was trying to remember how T Alston got his points ( besides his jumpers) , he was breaking down the defense on the right side & using the glass. I dont remember the sets though. I remember he and Coleman in the Tourny having a two man game that could not be stopped, that made me say 'go back to that'.
This MEAC Tourny is going to be interesting. Deloach (NSU) may go off, We may get in a groove, who knows. Is the NCCU/WSSU game on tap also? I don't see how...the Men's Final is @2pm & the Women's Final is @5pm

Another thing, IDK if it is frustration, potential un-realized or something in-between, but we have played badly with many turnovers or had these droughts on end, but still we have not been blown out in the league. Now we have been down 20 and all of that.
My point is that we have sputtered & still hung around. Maybe it is the defense, maybe we cause turnovers, maybe we are hitting FT's that night, or maybe the opposing coach takes out some of his horses...I dont know. But is was not like us against Tenn where we were just trying to keep their lead under 30 or something.
Let me clear my thoughts up. To me what is worse, loosing by missing 4 or 5 layups, or balls rolling around the rim, or loosing to somebody who just took up to the hoop and we cannot stop them? I can swallow being taken to the hoop. But the balls rolling around the rim shows the potential to score but we dont.
BTW Thompson of MSU should not ever get 20 REB's against us again. That upcoming rematch in B'more is on ESPNU.

PJ, Rebounding at both ends of the court and playing solid, I repeat solid, defense will primarily determine the outcome of the season ending games. Of course everyone is in agreement on some mandatory changes: poor free throw shooting (every team comes into Corbett and shoot free throws well) must end, reduce turnovers, and take high percentage shots (closer to the basket and design plays to free our so-call 3 pt shooters) and not wild or ill advised 3s under duresss. Coach Eaves is charged with the above responsibilities. Hope this is the streak everyone has been waiting for. Oh, you are an eternal optimist under some dire circumstances. More power to you. Most people left that boat at the dock (kinda sinking).

BTW is Porter growing into being an enforcer? Our Bigs were going after the shots again last night. I think that dunk was definitely a confidence booster for Porter! The commentators said that was his first dunk in a real game. That could definitely grow him into an enforcer at a very important part of the season! I remember him trying to lay it up softly and missing in a game earlier on. I think we'll see more of that from him, now that he knows it's okay to be an enforcer!
