It does not look like he will make it back on the floor unless he can shoot a three. or at least attempt one

It does not look like he will make it back on the floor unless he can shoot a three. or at least attempt one I swear sometimes this team looks like a bunch of cats who met on a GTA bus and decided to start a team. The only requirement is a willingness to jack up 3s.

Thats along the lines of what I was thinking, they should've started playing in the intramural league if they couldn't win there then they shouldn't be on the team.

This cast of characters were recruited, assembled and are directed by Jerry Eaves. He's in charge and responsible for their preparation and how they perform during the game. The fans that attend the games see players playing extremely hard and trying to win. You also see frustration and confusion on their faces, because no matter how hard they play the outcome is usually not in their favor. The effort is there and they don't understand why they can't get over the hurdle. I think that the skill level in their inside game has never been developed, their style of play is a double bladed sword, and if it fails they are ususally outscored and out rebounded. There is talent on the team. Why they can't operate as a single cohesive unit is a mystery only Eaves can solve (or not).
Upchurch as well as most of the bench warmers recruited by the director, Eaves, don't appear to be happy campers when you look at their faces as they sit. A stronger and bigger Witter could become a solid player next year.

I like Witter after seeing him play a few times. I dont know if he can blossom to his full potential under Eaves though. At 6-7 he should not be a "3 jacking" guard. It just takes away his advantage of being a 6-7 ball handler. Upchurch................I agree on the post of the week.

Witter is a little bit taller than 6-7, and hopefully he is still growing. He is thin. Hopefully, he and Upchurch will hang around here.

With that kind a size he could be an asset as a slasher or posting up two guards and 6/4 to 6/5 type 3 spot players.
I know he is thin and needs some streghth but the kid has a pretty good stroke. If you had him coming off of screens more and taking mid range jumpers. He has to much length to be bothered by a defender flying out at him.
Sixities you are absolutly right Witter must have shot up an inch because he is almost the same height as Coleman.
On a serious note Upchurch has a pretty nice inside game and a more developed body than Witter its ashame he is not playing. He was coming along fairly nicely early on in the season.
I dont even want to get started but in addition Nick Simpson really does have a nice game. He is out there now because he can shoot threes but he is a very legit two guard. If allowed he would have a nice game driving in or pulling up just inside the three line. He not a guy like Tarvis to take it all the way to the hold but he has a great mid range game and is very fundementally sound.

Simpson should have played more last year. He hustles and is a big guard with a good 3 shot, but is never setup with screens or plays to give him a good look. When he has to force or rush his shot it usually is off. Simpson like Joshua has to get in a groove and forced shots don't help them. Alston should have played his first 2 years, especially since he started at the point his junior year. Witter is at 6-8 and about the size of coleman who they now announce as being 6-9 and Porter at 6-10. Witter's upside is that he can rebound and has better offensive skills than the other two big people. He plays pretty fair defense, but can improve there. He needs to have more court awareness with his passing game. Soft passes get intercepted on him. However, if coached up he could be an excellent player.

.... However, if coached up he could be an excellent player. That's the big question SixtiesAggie. I may be wrong, but I can't really remember a player that Eaves actually "coached up" to reach his full potential!

I thought Coach Eaves did a good job with Ewing & Rush. I just have know idea why he is intent on his latest strategy.
I was actually at the game when we bet SMU. The guy knows basketball and outcoached Matt Dougherty clearly in that game.
We all have had bad ideas that seemed good in our head; may have even looked good on paper. But if it aint working !!!!! Coach Eaves you are better than this. Please abandonded this strategy play to your teams strengths.
