There's a half a dozen kids on that team that are solid 1-A or 1-AA prospects that would help especially defensively. Question will be what do their grades look like?
I believe that Fobbs had Stewart offer full rides to both him and the huge QB from Harnett Central before the even season started. How it pans out who knows?
Special note of info for this morning from the Triangle - We'll definitely be going after some of the UNC pre-commits that we had seriously talked too before and it is suspected 8-10 of the 22 red shirts they had will be looking for greener pastures for a chance to play elsewhere now that Bunting has been fired.
This is similar situation of what happened here last year and what NCSU went through when they let Sendek go in basketball. Guys are going to jump ship anytime a coach is fired.

My understanding is that Ingram and Cox both have academics issues. Neither have qualified yet to play as freshmen. Both seem set on going to an ACC school (NCSU). However A-1 is correct we need to to mining for those now will be leaving UNC at the end of the semester.

I would suspect we probably will go after them if they are really close on their scores and not GPA issues then redshirt both them if the ACC folks layoff.
There's probably another UNC five or so recruits in that 26 man class they signed last year that went to prep school instead as non-qualifiers that are now fair game as well.
A good many of the pre-commits for these ACC teams have yet to qualify so there will be some shuffling and waffling on these early verbals. One thing we need to check into and knowing how Fobbs talked on the subject in the past, he will be checking out character isues as hard as he will be on grades and football ability.
Bunting's high attrition problem was because of that one main issue and NCSU is headed in that same direction evidenced by the way they give away games for unsportmnaslike conduct at crucial times.
I always thought it was a mistake in football recruiting to have all your recruiting done before January based on combine camps like Bunting and Amato have because you miss out on dozens of good prospects who never get seen by anyone because they don't or can't afford to go to these shoe sponsored combines.
Considering there are only three seniors on this year's team and Fobbs has nine kids are sitting this year that will be returning in the spring, most of whom are on the defensive side of ball, so it would not necessarily be imperative for true freshmen to play next year unless they were just elite athletically.

Do you think we're going to be able to offer the D-1AA maximum number of scholarships next year? I would guess to get some really well rounded atheletes, that will be the direction we'll have to go in, since there are only a handfull of seniors on the team.

Todd made the caculated move to kill men's tennis to give Fobbs his full 63 schloarships and some additional recruiting money for this upcoming recruiting season.
Most of that money from that porgram was going to out-of state students. Five current football players will be graduating in December lossening up five more grants in the early signing period for JUCO transfers.
Until basketball makes a turn for the better which it should this season, football pays the bills so it gets top priorty and the bulk of the money spent.
This upcoming football recruiting cycle is probably the most important since 1988 and the next two years will probably be the most crucial ones in the history of the school.

I talked to Dee Todd on Saturday and she said that the strength and conditioning coach is here now. She did not want to say it but, we need to get Hackney outta here. He is hurting the program and the school as a whole.

Hackley will be with us until June 07. Two names were sent to Bowles for his pick and board approval. The new chancellor should be announced in Nov. Why the delay between Nov and Jun 07 was not discussed. Obtained this info at the Chancellor's Reception between Speight's and Hackley's comments.

The new chancellor finalists are supposedly current both university presidents but no one was dropping any names last weekend during homecoming.

Why the delay between Nov and Jun 07 was not discussed. Obtained this info at the Chancellor's Reception between Speight's and Hackley's comments. The word I heard is three names were on the list to Bowles, but one withdrew. The two remaining are current University Presidents and didn't think it would be appropriate leave their respective schools before the first of the year at this late juncture in the decision process. A March 1st or April 1st start would give them time to get their affairs in order and put their universities on a succession path. Though Hackley thinks he will be at A&T until June, expectations are that there will be a two or three at the most, month overlap. I don’t think Hackley will be there in June. To add another rumor to the speculation there appeared to be some friction between Bowles and Renick.

Their friction (if true) between them will have little impact with Renick gone and Bowles close to picking his own guy/girl. Let's move on.

(if true) Why would you say it wouldn't have an impact on the selection. Moving on is an option. But if we had a Chancellor that the overwhelming majority of Alums agreed with his policies and direction for the University, but the leader of the University System didn’t, then is moving on the best option. I would seem to me it is a non-issue it's not true.

What relevance is there to Renick & Bowles alleged friction? There's no "but" or "if" to this issue. Renick is gone. If Bowles had a problem with him, he needs to bury it and not hold it against the school. We need him to select the best candidate per the selection committee's recommendations.
As a sidebar, Bowles has the option not to accept either recommendation.

I think maybe it hints at the abruptness of Renick's departure.
